Bob G from TX was preaching for his 1st time at a church where I belonged. During his 1st time in the pulpit he tore into a young dating teenage couple for sitting to close to each other in the middle of his message. She was sitting right next to her mom & they had been members for years. The guy was a new believer of a couple of months. I was sitting in the row in front of them. They never moved an inch as there was no need to do so. I guess Bob G thought that he would use & IMO abuse these 2 to get attention. It backfired!

The next day the pastor contacted me to discuss & seek my advise about this as he was appalled & embarrassed.  I told him if I were in his shoes I would talk with Bob and ask him to apologize. I doubt it happened.............

The pastor should have stood up and stopped G right then.  Or at least apologized at the end of the service.

Big Preachers do not apologize because they are always right, don't believe it? Just ask them.
Bob was full of himself during their time at HAC.

Don't kid yourself.  Little preachers feel the same.

Yes you're right, every old crow thinks his is the blackest.

Old Bob is pretty full of himself now.

I once had a pastor.........a good one...........who when he'd get to waxing eloquent & using long-long sentences would get to the end of his thought but evidently wanted to keep keep it going would throw in, "world without end.................."  ::)

Heard a preacher say that Fundamentalism rested on his shoulders.

I heard Bro. Hyles say something close to that when he told about being at the top of the KGB hit list.

Every Great Man of God thinks he is the one that is indispensable.

After hearing a pastor say something like this, how in the world could any thinking man take anything he said serious?

I attended 1 night of a meeting here in GA & JH preached a whole message about anyone can be a JH. The next preacher up was Curtis H. BTW, JH was still sitting on the platform. Hutson preached a message about God only made one. One Moses, one David, one Joshua, etc. I had never seen JH turn red and squirm in his seat like he did during that message. As soon as it was over and during the final prayer JH was out the back door.

I think you missed the point of JH's message.  He was saying that he was not a Moses, David, or Joshua.  He was trying to get across that if God could use someone like him he could use anyone that would surrender to Him.  BTW, JH usually left during the final prayer.

By the very title, he is saying that JH is something wonderful and great that lots of people want to be like him.  Once again, he is making himself out to be the pinnacle of Christian achievement.

People have always wanted to be like other people who have succeeded in certain fields.  It's true in all areas.  To multitudes of people JH was "wonderful and great".  In this message that he preached numerous times he is saying that he is nothing of himself and anyone who walks with God can accomplish great things for God.

I must say that I am totally humbled to have started a thread and then have Raider himself post on it. That speaks of his ability to make even the smallest of members on the Forum totally appreciated.
