Preachers Say a Lot of things they Shouldn't Say

I attended 1 night of a meeting here in GA & JH preached a whole message about anyone can be a JH. The next preacher up was Curtis H. BTW, JH was still sitting on the platform. Hutson preached a message about God only made one. One Moses, one David, one Joshua, etc. I had never seen JH turn red and squirm in his seat like he did during that message. As soon as it was over and during the final prayer JH was out the back door.

D'OH :P

We belong to IFB church which had a HACker for the assistant pastor. When the pastor decided he was leaving he railroaded the assistant through the voting process ( I did not vote for him) and the HACker became the pastor. At the time my wife was the Church secretary. The new pastor would spend hours in the youth room before a big wall mirror practicing and memorizing his Sunday sermons. She knew this because when she had  tell him something pressing she would find him in front of the mirror.

Once in awhile in the middle of a sermon he would lose track of where he was in his delivery, he would get this eyes glazed over look & looking at the ceiling. Then he would go back to the beginning of his memorized point and start over saying the same thing up to the point where he'll have lost track.

I guess the HS got confused.  LOL!

Better to have written it all out and just read it.

That would have been fun... One problem I've seen is that too many preacher and other Christians try to mimic someone else instead of being what God wants them to be.  God made you to be YOU, not someone else.

I'm all for admiring the good other people do and respecting them, but we don't need to try to be them.

All that to say I agree with what CH preached.

Let's not forget Joe Boyd's infamous oral sex sermon in hac chapel.

Wish I had no read that!  :o  :-X  :-\  ::)
Was that split chapel?

NO! It was in regular chapel and when he started talking about it you really can't believe what you are hearing! I have heard about guys who were on a 'first date' in chapel when this happened. But, it is true. I was there!

No one would dare speak against Bro. Hyles hero.

My Pastor last year, in a message on tithing, held up a stack of envelopes representing the membership, and then another stack, about one third the size, representing members who regularly tithe.

The problem with this is that among the congregation are those who do not use envelopes and identify themselves. Secondly, many of the "member envelopes" of the first stack actually represent a great many people who "joined" the fellowship and essentially haven't been seen since (I'm now one of those envelopes because I my wife and I are currently visiting other fellowships, lol).  Lastly, the primary impression given was that tithing equates to sincere and genuine salvation, and is the mark of a good Christian, and I have always had a problem with that.

God bless.

Heard a preacher say that Fundamentalism rested on his shoulders.
Our California friend, no doubt.

Speaking of California, another favorite designation for that state. is "The Land of Fruits and Nuts." Which, to be honest, I am in perfect agreement with, despite the fact I was born there and have a lot of family there, but, not something I think should be said from the pulpit.

Sitting in front of us was a couple actually from California. I wonder if the Pastor saw the look in their faces when he said it.

God bless.

I lived there for about 7.5 years.  Some of the best years of my life were there and a ton o f great memories and awesome friends.  I miss my time there.
But the truth is, a lot of people are leaving the state with the current state of things...illegal immigration, taxes, liberal agenda, crime, etc. etc.  My BIL who has been living there since the late 80's in Anaheim or Orange is  moving back to KY.

I was born there, but lived primarily in Oregon (another great state with some strange inhabitants) as a small child, then in Alaska as an air force brat until about ten, then about the last 47 years in Virginia, which I hated when I moved here, but at this point not sure I would want to live anywhere else.  I can understand people leaving California.

God bless.

Bob G from TX was preaching for his 1st time at a church where I belonged. During his 1st time in the pulpit he tore into a young dating teenage couple for sitting too close to each other in the middle of his message. She was sitting right next to her mom & they had been members for years. The guy was a new believer of a couple of months. I was sitting in the row in front of them. They never moved an inch as there was no need to do so. I guess Bob G thought that he would use & IMO abuse these 2 to get attention. It backfired!

The next day the pastor contacted me to discuss & seek my advise about this as he was appalled & embarrassed.  I told him if I were in his shoes I would talk with Bob and ask him to apologize. I doubt it happened.............

The pastor should have stood up and stopped G right then.  Or at least apologized at the end of the service.

Big Preachers do not apologize because they are always right, don't believe it? Just ask them.
Bob was full of himself during his time at HAC.

Don't kid yourself.  Little preachers feel the same.
