Pray for Leuthold family

A sad end to a tragic story.  Prayers go out to his mom and dad who are faithful members of a Baptist church in the area as well as his in-laws who are also faithful members of another Baptist church in the area.  His in-laws have the three children.  Much prayer for them.

Yes, sad for all of the family involved.  Stories like these leave me wishing there was some prosecution for the adultress.  Does Illinois not have the death penalty?  One would think that as premeditated and cold hearted as this murder was.....

Illinois does not have the death penalty.  It is a liberal state because of the cesspool we call Chicago.  If you took Cook County out of Illinois it would be a conservative state.  In the downstate area we do not even consider Chicago as part of the state.  Our motto in Illinois is, "Our governors make our license plates".

I was shocked when they had the adultress testify and gave her immunity.  She knew what was going on the whole time.  I believe she has returned to Lithuania.

I watched the report last night. The defense brought up some really good points. Among which this one really stood out. No emails, texts or phone calls mentioning a physical relationship at all.

The other thing that sounded odd was that the inlaws never suspected trouble? They lived in the same house with them but never suspected trouble? We IFB can find trouble where it doesn't exist lol, so that was odd to me.

Side note--Prosecutor call their neighborhood/house "upscale" but nothing looked upscale there, especially the gravel driveway?

At the end I was surprised the jury reached the "beyond a shadow of a doubt" guilty verdict.

Anyone else watch this?

I watched it along with my wife. I thought the guilty verdict was justified.

While I'm not at all happy to hear that the other woman knew of his plans and did nothing, I would rather that they give her immunity to nail his sorry hide to the wall than both of them get off.

I don't know these people so I watched the report pretty objectively. Where in the news report did you get the idea that she knew what was going to happen.

Interesting.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

And according to testimony he hadn't . . .  However . . .

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Sounds like he had created a huge fantasy so strong and real that it lead to murder.  It was a truth of Christ's words played out.  Imagine if we compared it to David in which He had committed the physical act of adultery and then committed the murder.

In this case the sin was committed in the heart first and the murder was committed to allow the physical transgression to occur.

Insanity occurs when one plays in that fantasyland so long and so in depth to allow Satan to so distort one's own mind to commit such a heinous act and believe that you still win the girl.

Doesn't matter who said it, who repeated it, if it is truth I am glad it was told to me when I was young many times and at least once by RG Lee preaching Pay Day Someday.
Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.– unknown

She was kicked out the the Bible college in Florida for an "inappropriate relationship with her sponsor." The detectives said that she would at times stay off-campus in a hotel with him by herself. No adultery? Who is he trying to kid?

Perhaps his definition of sexual relations is the same as Bill Clinton's.

I thought Dateline did a very good job on this story.  I was afraid that they were going to bash Christianity in a backhanded way, but they did not.

We were also somewhat surprised that Denise (the wife) did not confide in anyone.  I will say, she was a very quiet private person.  Her kids and marriage were everything to her.  I'm thinking that she just held things in and talked to the Lord about them.

It is not an "upscale" neighborhood.  It is a decent, middle-class, quiet neighborhood.

I believe it took the jury about 90 minutes to come back with the guilty verdict.  Some of the items that were extremely damaging to Nathan were:

*The letter from Denise to Nathan that they found in her diary.  The letter basically said that he was having an improper relationship with a 20 year old.  It also said that she knew he wanted her dead, but that it was not going to be that easy.

*The "jailhouse snitch" knew details that only someone who Nathan had told would know.

*The gun used to kill her was the same kind of gun that Nathan owned and claimed was stolen.

*Nathan's computer had been used to look up several disturbing items such as how to silence a Glock (the gun used to kill her), how to electrocute someone in the bathtub, how to poison someone, etc.  There were also a lot of porn sites on the computer.

*Nathan's lack of emotion.  He never broke down when he found out she was dead.  He never broke down during the police questioning.  He never broke down at the funeral or visitation.  It was strange.

*The hoodie that he was wearing that day had gun residue on the sleeve.

*Nathan texted "the girl" and told her that it seem like the house had been broken into.  Her response was "Interesting" followed by a smiley face.

There were also many other "little" items that pointed to Nathan.

This also confused me.  They gave her immunity for her testimony.  In her testimony all she did was try and cover up for Nathan.  He had spoken to her for many hours from the jail.  You would think that if they were going to give her immunity, she would testify against him.  I guess they figured that her ignorance on the stand would make it obvious to the jury that she was lying.  From what I understand, she has gone back to Lithuania.

This creates another question.  When they asked her why she was kicked out of Pensacola Christian College she lied.  They were able to get her records and find out the truth (which you posted).  I wonder if Pensacola contacted Nathan's sending church to tell them of the situation???????

We end up doing that enough on our own don't we?

This is true.  They could have been nasty if they wanted to.

Can this be seen online? Can someone post the link?

Not sure of the link, but it was on Dateline on Friday night.  It was a 2 hour program.

Again I am left wondering, a doubt if you will, that despite everything. The calls, the text messages, the emails, there is no mention of a sexual or romantic relationship , not even any pictures. In the case of Jack Schaap he couldn't resist taking pictures. Is it possible this guy was shrewd enough to avoid all that?

We know that while she was a student at PCC she left campus with him (I believe even overnight).  He took her to a spa here in Illinois several times and paid for her waxing (the spa owner actually thought she was his wife).  These were pretty bold moves.  I understand what you are saying - if they would do these things why wouldn't there have been some pictures or texts.  Who knows?  Maybe the Schaap situation made him think twice about it.
