Nathan and Denise Leuthold are missionaries to Lithuania.  They are in their late 30s and have three young children.  Many churches in our area have supported them for many years.  They are currently home on furlough and are staying with Denise's parents.  Yesterday afternoon Denise was home alone when a burgler broke into the house.  The burgler shot and killed Denise.  This is extremely heartbreaking.  Please pray for this family.

How tragic.  I don't know them, but I will pray as the Spirit reminds me.  Starting now...

I saw several post about this on Facebook.  I am so sad to hear about it.  I have prayed for them and will continue.

Oh my.  We will pray for the family.  I don't know them, is there a place to get more information on the family (a missions card even)?

God help the family during this terrible time..........so many questions please dear God wrap your arms around this dear family!!!!

I will post any updates I get.  This took place about 45 minutes from where I live.  They are currently doing an autopsy.  Very little information has been given out.

I read in different posting on the net that she was shot in the head. There had been alot of breakins in the area............I hope they find these.guys that did this you can't be careful enough..........my heart goes out to the family she just had her birthday a few days ago.

Saw this on Facebook as well, my heart hurts for this family, and have been praying!

Very few details are being released.  Supposedly she came home and walked in on the robbery.  They shot her as she walked in the door.  For some odd reason they took her car and abandoned it not too far from the house.

I will be attending the visitation this evening and the funeral tomorrow.  Please continue to pray for her husband and children.

Praying for this precious family. They were attending my wife's former church in Washington, IL while home on furlough. My mother in law said they had been singing and playing the piano in the services. May the Lord give extra grace to them.

Your wife's former pastor is doing the graveside service.

How did the funeral go? Did you attend?

I was able to attend both the visitation and the funeral.  What a tremendous outpouring of love from God's people!  The visitation ran from 5:00 - 8:00.  At 5:00 the line ran through the funeral home to the back door.  It was close to 9:00 when it ended.  Nathan (the husband) seemed to be numb (as you can imagine).  He is usually a very talkative fellow.  He just hugged necks and spoke very little.

The church was full for the funeral.  The pastor spent much of his time talking to the three young children.  Denise was buried at a very small cemetery with just family present.  It was 10 degrees with a 30 mph wind.

Please continue to pray for this precious family.

Just received the shocking news that Nathan Leuthold has been arrested for the murder of his wife.  I hope this is a witch hunt, but I understand there has to be some evidence.  Simply sad and unbelievable.

I'm sticking my neck out here, but I'm willing to bet you called this one with the above quoted post.  "For some odd reason" the murderous hubby didn't wanna walk 20 miles back home.

When I told my husband ...he said why didn't he just walk away from the family.......disappear unless he has a girlfriend somewhere?

I'm quite shocked by this news. I told my wife the same thing. Why kill her? Did the man hate his wife?
