Potential loss of my job....prayer request

Thanks to all who've prayed and still do.  Just a brief update....

The initial assessment of job reductions was that they would begin essentially in November, which is rapidly approaching.  I have put in for another job, but haven't heard back regarding it yet.  Some potential good news however was delivered just today.  I was told, off the record by a member of management, that the anticipated reductions may be lessened.  That wasn't an official announcement, so I have to take it with a grain of salt.  The current attitude round my work culture is epitomized by the phrase "subject to change daily".  It's like walking in quicksand.

Thanks again for the prayers.

Baptist Bishop do we know you because you sound like some one very kind and a nice person. I appreciate your kind words we have had a tough time but God in his mercy has been so good to us...thank you for your prayers

Our family continues to remember you in prayer ... bearing the burdens of a friend is so crucial in this "me first infested culture" ... after all ... a friend is BORN for adversity!

As we reflect on the blessings & challenges of last year ... and the prospects and resolutions for the New Year ... it is a good time to remember in prayer those searching for work ... and in need of prayer.  My prayers today are for you!

You have not been forgotten ... not lost to the nether regions of the forum ... there are those that continue to pray for you and your family ... for your health struggles ... and for full time work.  May God's Grace Sustain You!

I'm proof that God is in control not me I am working at a treatment center for women. I love it...thank you for your prayers

These last several months have been a rollercoaster here at work, but to make a very long story short, my employer has vacillated back and forth, but ended up deciding to keep a small number of folk in the laboratory and I am in that group.  God is good and faithful, and thanks for all who offered up prayers.

Goodonya brother.  Praise the Lord!

What wonderful news!  Thank you for taking the time to update us on your situation.  We are THRILLED for you!

Praise the LORD, God is so good. He always comes through for us.

Deja vu all over again, but with a bit more bite to it.  I was just given my WARN (potential layoff) notice again.  This time the intended target group is 1/3 of the work force (650 out of 2000 employees), and in a worse case scenario, possibly even 2/3 of the workers will be out of a job.  Please pray for me and these other workers.  Nobody wants to be out of a job in this econonmy.

just saw this thread, and will surely be praying for you and the job situation

Thanks bro.

Went to a "Town Hall Meeting" (more like a rally :D) with congressional representatives last night.  It's a big deal for sure.  Not just personally, but for the surrounding small towns too.  The economy for southern Ohio would be catastrophically devastated by losing these good paying jobs.  I don't know that things will change, but ya gotta try to do something before the hatchet falls.  We got our VRIF (Voluntary Reduction In Force) notices yesterday, which means we can personally elect to leave early (before October 16) and soften the blow for other people who may not want to leave.  Of course if enough people don't VRIF (and they won't) then it will become an IRIF (Involuntary Reduction...).  They offer a small severance package (a couple thousand dollars) as a carrot to entice people to take the VRIF, but that small amount won't lure anybody away from a fulltime job that they could work for the next couple of months and easily make more than the severance amount.  Our best hope is that, as a federal contractor, the government (DOE) fulfills their original promise to fund the job, and they find the appropriations somewhere in the budget.  It's complicated and political for sure, but that's the only real hope <humanly speaking> to save the jobs for these potentially impacted families.

Thanks again for praying.

My prayers are with you it sounds awful............but start now on updating your resume and fine tuning your skills....
