Update to the post RE: Jack Schapp - one of our members was notified this afternoon by the authorities on this case that J.S. has had his sentence reduced to four years in exchange for information to the FBI on FBC and related schools. Those are the facts we have been told and feel you deserve to know. As we learn more - we will get any and all information out to the group.

Makes you wonder who will be the next one(s) to be indicted. At this point he has nothing else to lose.

I have no idea if it is true. It is interesting to think about though. Who at FBC should be concerned?

Only Time will tell. Maybe just a rumor. I'm sure the Feds have and will continue to pump information from him. Unless there is a code of silence he has pledged to with certain members FBCH.

I don't believe it. There was probably a lot of foolish behavior from some of the staff but I seriously doubt there was anything criminal. And, they also said that there was little they could do to reduce a sentence for a federal charge. js was the mastermind of anything that was seriously amiss.

The DRHAC crowd is still around?

And apparently still talking about things they know nothing about.

Most federal charges are hard to get out of let alone a reduced sentence.

C'mon, qwerty, you know Trisha is working with the Feds on this...

<facepalm>

Some of the follow up comments speculate that it may be financial impropriety that is being discussed. There is also speculation that the timing of the deal corresponds with the Schaap family members clearing out of the Hammond area. Just for the sake of discussion, does anyone know what the consequences of misappropriated funds in an exempt church situation would be? Loss of tax exempt status? Fraud charges? Public embarrassment - oh wait, that already happened.

deer tracks who murdered someone?

I hope he tells what he knows.

So he's on his 2nd year, does that count?  Financial inproprities would be on his part mostly and EL.  JS spent millions of the church funds.  Jack DeCoster sent millions and it was signed over to JS.  Where is the money and why is the church in so much financial problems.  He bought his big fancy house in Illinois and paid cash for it.  FBI took it.  I could go on, but this post really makes me mad if it's true.

If there is any iota of truth to this, any impropriety regarding finances would have been his doing totally initiated by him (possibly in cahoots with EL?).  The ministry at FBCH is pretty much running on fumes right now but at least they are able to keep their head above water.  If there was some financial impropriety today, how much could it really be?  The feds were crawling all over the place before his trial so if there was something hinkey, you would have thought they would have seen it then.

The DeCoster issue is interesting.... Schaap spent that money quick, it would be nice if the church and DeCoster eventually had some accountability into where those funds went?  Those that are still attending FBCH, was it ever disclosed what happened to the millions that DeCoster gave?

I do not put much faith into the claims of anything from the do-right crowd.  They are mostly legends in their own minds.  They were wrong on how the photos were discovered, they were wrong on how it was reported to authorities....  For a group of folks that are so against the sycophants of the IFB community, they have become a good example of becoming that which they despise.

From what we understand (understood) DeCoster wrote the check out to Schaap and not the church.  This is apparently why he paid cash for the Illinois house ($700,000).  DeCoster sent millions.  And why his family lived so lavishly.  Cindy's new car, the jet skis, the motorcycle, down payment on houses for the kids, etc.  Keep your family close and your money closer!

The Feds took the house? Wow I wonder if they froze all their assets too. I had heard Cindy wasn't doing too well (financially).

The first chick who started the DRHAC facebook page was always saying how she was informing the FBI and working closely with some Illinois attorney who had tried to prosecute DH in the Brent Steven's case.  I think that she was all talk, trying to make her position seem more than it actually was.

She has now seemed to have taken a back seat, leaving the admin to others who have been gone from HAC for a quarter of a century with no close ties to FBC, so I don't know how true their claims can be; their sources may not be as accurate as they're hoping.  Recently, they added Jay Sandgren, a former HAC music teacher. He's about the one with closest ties to NW Indiana, having family from a previous marriage still in the area, although I don't know how much family contact they have.

I don't buy the story of Schaap's reduced sentence.  I thought that once you were sentenced, it couldn't be changed.

I heard from someone it has been done... 4 years... They let the victim know supposedly.
