Found it interesting. So, what brought or compelled you to post that (particularly on a fundamental Baptist site)?
Ok, anything specifically you found interesting?Found it interesting.
Did you attend law school? LOLOk, anything specifically you found interesting?
Christianity is not a word I'd use in describing these folks. It’s a dying slice of backwoods Americana Christianity.
They have the right to practice their interpretation of the Bible just like you do. Snake handling and strychnine-guzzling aside, much of what he said is not much different than what I heard growing up in an IFB church, particularly his views of the role of women in the church and his interpretation of it from Scripture.Christianity is not a word I'd use in describing these folks.
The quicker this stuff dies out, the better. Actually, they're working hard to bring this about.
They'd die a little slower if they put the snakes down. It’s a dying slice of backwoods Americana Christianity.

It’s a dying slice of backwoods Americana Christianity. This particular church is the last remaining serpent-handling church in West Virginia. I read a recent article about this church due to a photo exhibition. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...e-handling-church-West-Virginia-pictures.html
Anything else?

Agreed on the principle of freedom of religion, disagree with giving any sort of tacit approval of advocating this sort of abuse of Scripture to the point of killing people. They have the right to practice their interpretation of the Bible just like you do. I don’t agree with them whatsoever with the nonsense, but I also know they wouldn’t agree with me on some issues. I will say I found this pastor to possess a very humble spirit. It’s quite obvious he’s not a seminary educated individual, and it’s dubious whether he even graduated from high school, but he’s quite educated in the Scriptures and when he speaks of other Christians (he specifically mentions the local Baptists) who make fun of them and put their church down, and how he never does this back, it makes one wonder who’s really living in the spirit of God and who’s acting like the Pharisees.Agreed on the principle of freedom of religion, disagree with giving any sort of tacit approval of advocating this sort of abuse of Scripture to the point of killing people.

He may be a nice guy... I know atheists who are nice people. This doesn't change the fact that he's acting like a fool. I'd also be curious as to where he's stands on the Trinity. I was doing a little reading on these sects and they all descend from Pentacostal Holiness. There seem to be two camps: Trinitarian, who generally use the name Church of God... and non-trinitarian, who follow the moniker, Church of Jesus... this guy seems to be in the latter group. IF they fall into the non-trinitarian group, they are lost as a ball in tall grass which makes their deaths that much more tragic. I've run up against a number of Pentacostal Holiness types (none of them snake handlers) who vehemently deny the Trinity.I don’t agree with them whatsoever with the nonsense, but I also know they wouldn’t agree with me on some issues. I think we were zeroing in on the same issue at the same time. For their eternal sakes, I do hope they affirm the Trinity. But as I've said, I am aware of Pentecostals who deny it.Interestingly enough, your statement ties back to a thread a couple months ago I started regarding what constitutes a cult (we were talking about Jehovahs Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists at the time), and the fella/pastor in this video mentioned that he gets tired of being called a cult by neighboring churches (Baptist and Church of God were mentioned). Here’s a short read on Sect versus cult that seems applicable…

I did notice in several of his statements, the idea of eternal assurance of salvation seemed dubious at best. Maybe I was misinterpreting his statements, but he seems to indicate going to heaven as more of a hope than a foregone conclusion after salvation. He may be a nice guy...
