Yep. We all do it because we all see things from different lenses and since vocabulary is limited, we have limits as to how we express ideas. When I say "Carla", I would probably be talking about my wife. The definition of her name (Free Man) does not do justice to her, neither does her name itself. She is greater than her name, a deeper person than can be expressed.
Same can be said of "God". God is a label for that which we cannot know or understand, only hope to project with accuracy. To say "God" is to short-change all that "God" is, because we don't have enough vocabulary.
So yeah, we all short-change definitions and descriptions. It is simply human communication to be arbiters of how we use language and apply/interpret terminology.
