Actually I was hoping those here who speak Trumpian Chess would help the rest of us understand how this isn't offensive to the cause of Christ. Obviously using the Holiest day of the calendar to get a few shots in at political opponents must be acceptable to God. After all only sanctimonious people would see any hint of a misuse the remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I have to think that It won't be long and communion cups will have Trump logos.Only you, of all posters, have the moral

It’s not my place, position or obligation to ‘defend him on anything he says or does’.Actually I was hoping those here who speak Trumpian Chess would help the rest of us understand how this isn't offensive to the cause of Christ. BTW I noticed no one has made any attempt to defend his atrocious Easter "greeting". Much easier to get upset at me for putting it in the middle of the dinner table next to the ham. Easter being the very cornerstone of the redemption story I of the opinion that his "sincere greeting" is a blasphemous use of Biblical truth.
Oh, and as for me I will just quote Job.
Mock on.
But it is your place, position and obligation to mock me when I post evidence of indefensible behavior by our president. Are you unable to speak to the issue itself? No need for you to defend him. Rather I would hope that you would speak out against his actions. It’s not my place, position or obligation to ‘defend him on anything he says or does’.
Seems I hit a nerve…

Many times I have been told that he has support here only because of his policies and his behaviors are irrelevant. This is a bright clear line that has been crossed. It is relevant to the reputation of the conservative evangelical church. He should be hearing from all quarters of how out of line he was. His lady pastor should be on record by now with a statement. His lackeys in evangelical leadership who have excused him for past boorishness should be openly rebuking him. The silence is deafening. What he said is indefensible. Why is it not being called out for what it is? Can no one step past the political risks to speak in defense of the integrity of the Gospel? Where are the great men and women of God willing to take a stand against this?
Yes. It is that bad.
I'm not sure how the tweet can be construed as a celebration of the resurrection that wasn't even mentioned.
How did his tweet 'misuse' Easter?I noticed on my FB feed that the MAGA leaning folks posted the "we aren't the same" meme while the tweet came from folks who found his misuse of Easter repugnant. I agree with the second group.
Once again, you confuse political and spiritual leadership.I'm not sure how the tweet can be construed as a celebration of the resurrection that wasn't even mentioned.

I was told here that it isn't our responsibility to defend him. I'm wondering why anyone would want to defend his tweet.
My top level boss is very clear with his management team that they are responsible to deal with bad behaviors and attitudes within the organization. He uses the example of Paul rebuking Peter over his hypocrisy in how he acted around Jews versus gentiles. Peter was wrong, Paul knew and addressed the issue to Peter's face. The shorthand phrase the boss uses based on Paul's response to Peter is that "whatever goes unaddressed is condoned".
Despite the obvious wretchedness of the President Trump "Easter" tweet, the only response was to deny any responsibility to address it. On the other hand the "we aren't the same" meme draws approval.
It wasn't that long ago that the majority opinion here was that Christians shouldn't excuse sin in a leaders life no matter how great a soul winner he was. Minimizing such would be detrimental to the cause of Christ. Respect for and the reputation of the church would be damaged. I can't wrap my mind around the idea that we have no concern for the same types of damage because we like the man's policies.
The issue isn't defending his tweet. The issue is the silent acceptance. Because that which goes unaddressed is condoned.
Makes me wonder what Paul would have had to say about the "Easter" tweet.
Now now. Israel is just sending those poor uncircumcised babes to Heaven.I don’t k ow what God thinks but I’d guess he’s pleased at getting that land back to Israel at all cost including murdering little babies and make orphans.
