i think it;s because the proper way to phrase that is "may" i come in.... not can i come in.... and she;s acting like can actually school a vampire..... . but in truth i think she already messed up.... because - while it;s true a vampire must be invited to come into your house - by answering him with a question she might be leaving the choice to enter up to the him.... .. and we all know what happens when evil is given a choice....I fail to see how her reply is pedantic...

Pedantic: adj; Like a pedant, overly concerned with formal rules and trivial points of learning. (emphasis mine)Because "may I" connotes permission, whereas "can I" connotes ability.
But every schoolteacher knows--and has since Methuselah was a second-grader--that when a kid asks "Can I go to the bathroom," he's asking permission, so to make the distinction is pedantic.
Of course, it's might also be literally pedantic if the teacher is male. (he said, pedantically)

My point was that she wasn't being overly concerned with the vampire's grammar but was instead, properly correcting him.
Also of note, the vampire's question improperly used the lower case "i" for the personal pronoun.
How's that for pedantry?
Who's fighting? I'm affirming enforcement of proper grammar. My 7th grade English teacher would look at that meme and say, "Recognition of proper grammar can save your life!"This is the Fellowship Forum….
No fighting over grammar rules!
No... She was a very sweet lady but she was a total grammar Nazi. She was big on penmanship too.

That would be so awesome!
