Have you heard anything about plexxusslim, and any pros and cons about it? I have some family that is using it and it seems to work.

No, but I looked at its web site and its something I wouldn't recommend just for a few reasons.  First, when a supplement company advertises a product to lose weight, it doesn't work that way. A combination of restricted calorie intake and exercise will.  The supplement industry is over a billion dollars strong.  People just want to buy that magic pill or drink and make everything go away.  The problem is that people need to know that their eating habits are wrong and it needs to change...forever.  I haven't had the chance to go over all its ingredients, but I noticed it labeled a "PROPRIETARY HEALTH BLEND" which they may not list ALL its ingredients. I think the FDA allows that. Also, I see allot of extracts listed which isn't the best way to get the most out of the food item.

In your case, I'm sure some of the people you know may be losing weight, but its just not from a drink.  They are decreasing their calorie intake and exercising, I bet.

The pros in this case is that if it helps the person to reach his/her goals then keep on doing it as long as its safe.

Thanks for the question, this keeps me on my toes and I learn more as well!

Is it safe to go every other day without eating, and would there be any ill effects long term?

That's a good question.  I have heard different views on this, but I'd say if your fasting then of course.  If you are doing it to lose weight...I wouldn't recommend it.  Your metabolism, which is your chemical balance within the body, will not increase.  Therefore, weight lost wont be achieved for the most part.

I would want to do more research on this because there was a huge discussion on it and I need to find it!

The ill effects would of course be the hunger pains and not fully functioning through out the day.

You know, the brain is a powerful thing. I wonder if you could meditate your way to a faster metabolism. Seems plausible.

Well, if that was true...I would be out of a job.

I might give it a shot. If successful I'll let you know so you can seek employment elsewhere. ;)

It takes character and discipline to keep your body in good condition. Unfortunately those two traits are getting increasingly hard to find. Guilty.

I go to the gym about 4 or 5 times a week. Usually try to do at least 30 minutes on treadmill or  elyptical and always very my weight machines for resistance. I try to vary my workouts on the cardio machines also. Now my question is, How do you know how hard to go or how much is too much. I want to be fit but I'm not sure I want to die by going too hard on the cardio stuff. Should I shoot for burning a certain amount of calories? Should I shoot for a certain heart rate for a certain length of time? Should I just keep going as long as I can? Give me some guidelines here. I am in my 50's and not more than 10 pounds overweight.

Ok, so I am trying to lose those last 10 lbs. I worked on it for the past 6 months and lost about 18.  Now I am really struggling. I run 4 times a week on a treadmill about 20-25 minutes fairly high intensity.  I lift weights 2-3 days, light weights and high reps, usually 20 minutes or so. I do this at work on my lunch break.

Good questions to both of you.  I need to do some serious homework tonight and tomorrow BUT, I will answer your questions.

One of those questions require me to get back into that book and do some math.  I may need to ask some questions of you both.

Even though I jest concerning my sweet-tooth, eating raw for 30 days or strictly juicing for 30 days is healthy way to reboot your system. However, you must not do exercise more than moderately for the duration as your body is not gaining the protein it needs to maintain heavy activity. Moderate exercise with a fruit/veggie only diet will help you lose weight fast and the incorporation of mostly plants to limited red meats and sweets (Yum! Yum!) should assist in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you get a chance to see this documentary (http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/), I highly recommend it.

Then you too can become a balanced chef!

I always suggest a person do something they enjoy.  Whatever type of cardio you like, your HR (Heart Rate) should be around 50-80% based on your age.  If you are trying to lose weight (10 lbs), you need to count your calorie intake daily.  I would need to know what your weight and body fat is.  I can then calculate what to shoot for regarding your calorie intake.

I dont really like the machines, that's a totally different subject, lol.  I would recommend that you weight train 3-4 times a week  and because you are trying to lose fat, 3 sets of 12-15 reps with 40-45 second rests in between sets.  Once you are done with that exercise station, move on to the next station and start your new exercise within 1 min.  This way, you will increase your metabolism.

Also what I need from you is your Resting Heart Rate.  Just take your pulse for 10 seconds and times it by 6.  This way I can give you a base estimate for your intensity.

Good job!  As you get closer to your goal, it gets harder.  This is just a fact. I would suggest to lower your calorie intake by 250cal for 1 week and then weight yourself.  Tell me what you get.

Hey Sherry, if you give me your height and weight, I can determine your calorie intake. I usually leave up to the persons preference when it comes to meat, but I just recommend to stay away from processed meats i.e. meat that comes in a package basically.  It's full of sodium and not worth eating, IMO.

I am interested in your thoughts on cinnabon cereals.

How nutritius and can I eat a lot of this and not be the fat.
