And I don't know why you would think I think that. There were plenty who tried to act, especially after the Sumner article. But the willingness to be deaf and blind went hand in hand with the rest of the crowd who remained dumb (as in silent).prophet said:I'm not sure why you think It's ok for you to mail a letter, but no one else to act.
I do not pretend to know you at all. But believe it or not, the more you say, the more I understand exactly where you are coming from.prophet said:And you don't know how I left, so don't pretend that you do.
No doubt. But realize you were not alone in that, either in your time or mine. That was typical for that system. Which is why you did not hear what many of those I named had to say.prophet said:I was told to be loyal or pack my bags, by my peeers.
Yeah, they absolutely hate it when someone is not being a wind up toy soldier and absolutely controlled by them, don't they? Believe me, I understand. But what you are either finding out now, or will find out someday, is that your confrontations and screaming of truth did little for those who remain willing to follow blindly. You chose a good screen name -- prophet. Isaiah was right, but ignored. Jeremiah the prophet was right, but false prophets contradicted his messages, his own family betrayed him, and his people ignored him.prophet said:I confronted JS several times, and I believe he disliked me greatly, or at least he was offended by my challenges.
I wasn't a college student who left, I was a staff member in the church I grew up in, who left. And I left after years of trying to affect change from within.
Here is the thing that so stunned me in all of it. I felt a little vindicated when the Sumner Story broke, and thought it would bring change. It did not. Then the Combs story made news. Then the Deacon Ballenger issue. On an on it goes. Sir, you are not fighting one man, but a system of perversion. And that I was ever a part of that system, even one being confrontational and disliked and abused by them, makes me sick! I cannot excuse my own blind ignorance in becoming for an accomplice in that mess for even such a short time. That is why it is important we all understand that it did not end when Schaap went to jail, because Schaap was not the sole problem -- it's the system!
Pretty much the same here.prophet said:I believe that JH violated Eph 5, instructions for wives to be submitted to their own husbands in the context of the church, and not to be some other man's secretary. I believe he stole Jen. Nisch's loyalty away from her husband. I taught those who I led to avoid this error.
prophet said:Lastly, I don't remember reading one post by you on the old fff. I have nothing against you, and I'm glad you took the stand that you did. So, I really mean this, I don't know why you are against confronting a pastor who is in sin.
And I really mean this, prophet. I do not know why you think I am against confronting a pastor who is in sin. Can you point me to a post I have made that indicated that? If I made such a statement, be it known I reject it. But also know that I believe there are extremes to be avoided in dealing with these perverts. One of those extremes is the head in the sand blind loyalist who refuses to believe what his own eyes, his own heart, fellow Christians, and the Spirit of God tells him. The other extreme to be avoided is the one that instead attempts to control every pastor, ignore the scriptures that give him rightful but limited authorities, and treat every man of God as if they are just a pervert waiting to be discovered. So, rebuke not an elder save in the presence of 2 or 3 witnesses. Them that sin rebuke before all that others may fear. The Bible has a BALANCE, and the only way to achieve that balance is by faith to trust God to work everything out in the end, even when I am mistaken, or misled, or lied to and deceived.
I have greened many of your posts, because I enjoy much of what you say. I think we are on the same wavelength for the most part. And as I said for a few posts, it did appear to me that somewhere along the line you got the wrong idea, or I did not explain something well in some post because it became obvious that you were insinuating that I stood for policies which I do not. I am for rebuking sinning elders. I am also for the discipline of fornicators, idolators, covetous, railers, etc. regardless of position. But in all this rebuking and discipline, we need to also remember that there are still some good people out there trying to do the job God has called them to do, just laboring in the fields harvesting as best they can, never tainted by the Hyles or Schaaps or Combs of this world. Until it is shown that they are not what they seem, leave them alone.
