tomato bisque soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.. 👩‍🍳

for some reason i woke up in the middle of the night with one of my favorite
comfort foods in my head.... tomato soup and grilled cheese... ....it;s 1;30
am and i don;t really want to settle for campbells in a can and simple slab
of american cheese on rye.... so i looked up this really good recipe i have
done before and will cook it tomorrow.... :)

My wife and I had this three days ago for breakfast. We often "change it up" and eat something off the wall for breakfast, lunch, or supper. It was great. We had breakfast for supper, and the next day we had home made cheeseburgers and hashbrowns! YUM!

it;s a pretty awesome midnight snack too.... ;)... i had to postpone my plans for it until monday morning instead of sunday... but i think i;m going to do like chef jean pierre suggested and make a huge batch of it and freeze the rest for future meals... ...that will also make midnight snacks of tomato soup and grilled cheese easier to do.... ..plus it;s guaranteed if my room mates smell that cooking at 2 am they will be out of bed and into the kitchen.... ...so i;ll need a lot of it to spare..... :)

I'd like to find a good recipe for spicy sloppy joes. Tonight my wife wants them, and I usually make a slightly spicy version because she can't handle heavy spice. But, I'd still like to give more taste to my already famous Sloppy Joes.

Brown the meat, add tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper and red peppers, crushed. Just a tiny bit of Tony Chachere's , the best seasoning on earth.

Great idea, Bob! I love that seasoning. I'll have to have Vivian pick some up at the store tonight. :)

I've made my sloppy joes with just tomato paste and salt and pepper and Worcestershire sauce before. It's good, but needs just a little more to be actually spicy.
I agree. I usually use Chipotle powder at times, or substitute it with Cholula! I thought about adding Texas Pete to it, but, my wife wouldn't be able to handle that!

i don;t rmember ever doing those since i have lived here... i rmember my mom making sloppy joes a couple of times when she felt like cooking something.... and then there was always leftovers i ended up finshing off over the next few days.... . i don;t rmember what she put in them but i know they were very spicy..... lot of chopped up peppers...

I'm trying to find a great recipe for a savory meatloaf! I'm going to be making one this Friday. I usually make a meatloaf every Friday evening, and we use the leftovers for sandwiches on Saturdays! I make a savory one, but, want to change it up a bit. I've loved meatloaf sandwiches since I was a toddler. I'm also looking for a great tuna casserole recipe. Thursday evening I'm going to make one, though I've not made one in years.

way he does this makes it look really good.... ..

A number of us are meeting at the church for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. For my contribution, I found an old box of cornbread stuffing mix and a can of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning in the cupboard. I thought, creole style cornbread stuffing sounded good. I looked up a recipe that calls for andouille sausage. I'll be making it up tomorrow...

I NARROWLY avoided BLASPHEMY! I was going to prepare my creole cornbread stuffing with only one member of the Holy Trinity of Louisiana cooking. (Onion, celery and bell pepper) After viewing a number of videos stressing the importance of the Trinity, I became convinced and went out this morning to get the missing ingredients. Happily, the local grocery store was open; I thanked everyone working for their service and came home with what I need to make the REAL CREOLE cornbread stuffing. Will let y'all know how it turns out!

I love that stuff, but I can't really get it here! I guess I'll have to get a good recipe and make it myself and add it to my many cornbread recipes! :)

Are you talking about andouille? I thought if I can find it here in a podunk outpost like Lewiston, ID, it can be found anywhere...

If you want an andouille substitute, I'd think you could cook up regular sausage and zip it up with a smoky spicy seasoning... I don't see why that wouldn't work.

We’re doing smoked turkey and brisket with the traditional sides. We started the brisket at 9pm last night (EST). It usually takes about twenty hours to smoke. Other than that, we’ve been running the 4-wheelers and watching football.

Idaho? I have a brother in Boise! :) Andouille can be found here in the Sams Club freezers! Sometimes you can find it a Kroger, Publix, or even Piggly Wiggly!

Andouille is hard to find here. There are a few specialty butcher shops that sell it, but they're a bit out of the way for me.

If I want to make up a pot of jambalaya, kielbasa is a fairly good substitute.

happy thanksgiving 2022....

the only thing i like about turkey is their feathers..... the wings make great arrow fletchings.
... and so do the tails if you are making replica native american arrows.... i don;t eat it often
but i still cooked a small smoked turkey injected with melted butter, for those in the household
who told me it couldn;t be thanksgiving without it..🦃... but the main courses yesterday were
prime rib and shrimp...🥩🦐 ..oysters rockefeller..🦪.. and seared ahi on the side with wasabi..
...also brocoli and cheese caserole...🥦🧀.... today is like thanksgiving 2.0 as i cooked a lot
more than all of us could eat.... it;s left over day... all day.... which is easy on me and the
other cooks...👩‍🍳. but brutal on the microwaves... 😏
