Just saw this: CINDY SCHAAP FILED FOR DIVORCE IN DURHAM COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ON MAY 29, 2014. The filing number is 14CVD345. This information was provided to me by the Durham County Court Clerk on June 4, 2014.

Anyone know how to check and see if it is true?

Yes it is...

Was going to respond to the times article earlier that said "Schaap, married with two children" but was not sure if it was public yet.  Guess it is now.

Cindy has every right to make this move............I'm so glad for her

Miss Cindy has every obligation to do the Will of God.  And that is between her and God.  Rights have nothing to do with it.  I don't wish to sound harsh with you I just want to make a distinction.  In general just because there is an allowance for divorce does not give one the right.  It gives biblical permission but biblical permission does not necessarily equate to the Father's will.  Again that is up to soul liberty to be exercised and the Will of the Father and that is between one and their Father.

I apologize if I was not clear.

Maybe this will clarify
Jesus had the "right" to not go to the cross or am I mistaken?

Lu 22:42  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Jesus had the "right" to not go to the cross or am I mistaken?  I think you are mistaken according to Revelation 13:8--And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world

I would say you are mistaken. Jesus sole purpose for coming to earth was to die for our sins on the cross. God sent his son to die for our sins because he was perfect and sinless.  Jesus and God are one so Jesus would not go against his will.

One does wonder why she cannot bear all things, believe all things, hope all things and endure all things. She counseled many a woman to do so, and reminded her of the vows she took before God. Better...or worse. This is worse and she wants out. Hmmm.

I will not judge her.  She and God must decide.

The treachery committed against her is one of the worst I have ever seen.  I cannot even imagine.

Perhaps I am.

Could it be possible that she has filed now - when she could have any time in past 2 years or so - because he has petitioned to have his sentence reduced, hired new lawyers, and she - as his wife - doesn't want to be financially liable for any bills he might incur?  Yes, I know his parents are rich, etc., but I know other people who have had to file for divorce in order to keep from having to file bankruptcy for their spouse's debts.  Some women have even changed back to their maiden names.

How hard is it to stay married to someone who isn't even there? Certainly easier than staying married to someone who abuses his wife day in and day out...I know she piously counseled women to stay with men who did that, and always found a way to blame the wife.

I only pray her eyes are opened to the hypocrisy and misery she perpetrated...in the name of Jesus, amen.

We all know about this one,... I am led to wonder if there were others.

I couldn't help but think of a 17 year old girl from Chicago when he first assumed the pastorate. She had made a bit of a scene in his line about needing to see him and he had her escorted out of line. Sometime shortly after that she had committed suicide. Maybe it was all coincidental in timing,... But I wonder.

Qwerty do you remember what I am referring to?

When someone breaks a marriage vow the spouse has every right to leave the marriage............

Because of this thread I will bring this up: I saw a little deal on a facebook page for people to contribute money for Ken Schaap's son to go for some kind of medical treatment or camp for which he has a permanent condition. One of the donor names on the list was Mike and Cindy Schaap. Could this be a misprint? A relative? Is she dating someone? Just wondering.

I don't know if Mike Schaap is related to Jack Schaap but his wife Cindy is not the former Cindy Hyles Schaap.

I saw that page that Candace started, asking for money so she could go to a conference about her son's illness. Don't you just love how easy it is for this family to take up collections so all of their needs can be met by others? I guess it's true...ye have not because ye ask not. There are lots of good people with sick children who would not dream of starting up a public collection every time they have an additional expense.

And Ken will get up at his new church, funded by regular contributions from around the country, rehabbed by an army of volunteers who donated their time and services -- he will get up and talk about living by faith and hold himself up as a great example of how God will take care of you if you will only live for Him. (Live for Him = Ask everyone to give you money and do your work for you.)

I am so glad that privileged family is gone, but it is so hard to forget them and their legacy of gall.

Hi. First post. And...I'd encourage all who have not been in her situation to exercise caution in judgment.

If you have been in her situation, then carry on and post your opinions.

Hi, I was subjected to King Jack and Queen Cindy and Prince Ken and Princess Jaclynn for over a dozen years. I bought the lie that they were the best Christians on the face of this earth. A lie they perpetrated relentlessly, by the way. The perfect plastic first family of fundamentalism. God's chosen, God's pets, God's most highly blessed and anointed. We adored them, we doted on them, we panted after them the way America pants after her celebrities. Some still do...but not I.

I think I can comment on the turn things have taken, but thank you anyway for your admonition.
