Would you do this?

It was in Colorado so it wouldn't be normal to dress like that there as it is further south and on islands in the Pacific, etc.
colorado?...... so it was a freshwater lake then?..... ....well..... he still should have been beaten down for it..... .......especially if there was no law on the books describing what kind of swimwear was legal and what was not.....

also.... i watched it a second time and noticed that before even 10 seconds had passed in the video the girls told him multiple times to go away and leave them alone...... i don;t know what kind of laws they have in colorado... but refusing to leave them alone after being told to do so ... and by continuing to stand there berating them like he was - would make him subject to arrest for harrassment in hawaii... ... and it could easily be upgraded to sexual harrassment charges because of the subject nature he was berating them over...... ..and if just one of the girls in that group happened to be under 18?.... then he would have found himself in jail facing felony charges that not even the most talented lawyer could have gotten him out of...

some things are simply nobody elses business .... and certainly not worth going to jail over... . ..it;s always better to just walk away.... . .... and besides... when the girl on the left turns over in the video you can see she is wearing full width swim suit bottom.... it was not a string - thong or other kind of narrow profile swimsuit....... . and if the top was made to match the bottoms then that kind of swimwear is equivalent to a burka in hawaii...... i doubt there is any ordinance against it in colorado either... they were well within their rights and he was acting totally outside of his.... .

Nothing legal was ever done about it. According to a NY post article about it there was also a woman with this man who spoke to the other women (he wasn't alone). It doesn't say if they belong to a church.

Seriously?

Yes. My niece and her husband live in Hawaii and she was harassed like this. The attorney on the blanket next to hers offered to have them arrested and to handle a lawsuit against them if she wished. But, she's too kind to do that.

in hawaii it;s covered under the 2023 hawaii revised statutes title 37. ..hawaii penal code 711.... offenses against puplic order 711-1106 harrassment - and both the case in the op and the incident joe describes are specifically addressed in section 1 (b)(c) and (e) ...

violation qualifies as a class c misdemeanor.... allows the complainant to obtain a restraining order against the defendant .....and in recent years it was added to the list of offenses that would invoke red flag statutes requiring the person convicted to surrender all firearms ...even if the conviction occurred in another state -

and that;s without the harrassment being based on gender or age of the person being harrassed.... (such as the guy in video continuing to stand in front of the girls after being told to stop and go away... and telling them they should cover up because they are female and are likely to incite men who see them to "lust").... . those factors can elevate it to a class c felony - and that;s something no person in their right mind should want on their record even if they reside in another state where such a law would not apply....

it;s simple.... when told your communication is unwelcome and advised to "go away"... the smart thing to do is stop talking to that person and walk away... especially if you are a large male taking to younger females .... and even more so if those females have a camera lens aimed at you and are making a video record of the incident....

in hawaii it;s very serious..... this is an island heavily dependant on tourism... ..if people feel they can;t relax and enjoy the beach without being berated for something they are wearing... (or not wearing).... they will go somewhere else on their next vacation.. ... ... or even worse - go back home and tell others about what happened and convince them to go somewhere else too... and then the economy suffers and the whole state loses money... .... ...

it;s why people who live here and understand that concept are often quick to intervene when they see something like that happening.... ..and often just the act of intervention both stops the harrassment and also gives the person being harrrassed relief and peace of mind so they can continue enjoying their vacation in peace....

but nobody wants to spend their vacation filling out police report or testifying in court.... and most people who live here don;t want to do that either unless some injury was recieved..... just the fact someone intervened for them and the harrassment was stopped is enough.... and so cases like the one joe described often go unreported... ..but the laws are on the books and once such a case reaches a judge - even if it;s just a request for a restraining order prior to a criminal case being filed - the judges take it very seriously....

Oh, I don't doubt for a second the statutes are there.

The idea that what we were treated with in the OP actually amounts to more than a minor irritation is what I'm scoffing at.
