What is the Gospel?

to change one’s way of life as the result of a complete change of thought
(I just refuted this nonsense in post #100 directly above this one, but let's break it down even further).

This is essentially stating "metanoia is to change one's way of life as a result of metanoia". Did you get that?

Let's try it again and pay attention before you go full-pharisee mode again: "Metanoia
is to change one's way of life as a result of metanoia"

Hey peabrain leading people to hell, that doesn't make sense. That's called circular reasoning.

You just added works to salvation by conglomerating them with your new definition of the word metanoia. That's like if I said "the definition of grace is to work for your salvation as a result of God giving you the initial grace to believe". One problem: this would create a literal paradox in the Bible because it contradicts verses that say grace and works are mutually exclusive, which is what Lordship Salvationists argue for.

It is a paradox. A delusion. A curse. You are under the curse of the law, therefore you cannot see it. Everyone who is saved can, it's so clear and obvious to the rest of us.

If you pharisees haven't realized, changing the meaning of metanoia has been one of Satan's primary attacks on the Gospel to bring works into it. Especially now during great apostasy, fewer and fewer understand the original definition of the word, nor how their new definition literally contradicts the Gospel of Grace.

Hey, guys, I found a Catholic academic source that says this:

"Lifting weights is defined as muscle growth as a result of lifting weights."

Anyone who disagrees with me doesn't trust "academia".

Uh. Pretty sure lifting weights is not defined as "muscle growth".
Pretty sure "lifting weights" is defined as picking up weights and pushing or pulling them against gravity.
Pretty sure "muscle growth" is defined as the building of new or rebuilding of torn muscle fibers.
Those are not anywhere close to the same definition.

"Then you don't understand the dictionary!"

That's not a dictionary. It's someone's wrong opinion.

Again, those guys are not academics if they can't even wield a basic understanding of logic.
They are literally writing self-contradicting BS. And you are literally gobbling it up with no reason in sight.

Ugh is a sad example of the typical Ruckmanite would-be cult leader. In an effort to draw away disciples after them, they all operate this way - making vicious character attacks on their intended victims, telling them they are going to hell and that their only hope is to become a blind and completely submissive zombie follower of an abusive Ruckmanite cult leader.

Ruckmanites reveal the deeply demonic and Satanic origins of their false religion, when they throw these tantrums and condemn people to hell, for no offense other than quoting passages from the KJV that do not fit into the demented "theology" of their demon-possessed god Peter Ruckman.

sad example
Hey arrogant stupid guy, no one is listening to you and no one cares that Ruckman threw you in a garbage can in high school.

He should have given you a swirly as well, while their was dung in the toilet. What a whiny little attention seeking, pity-party-from-nothing mama's boy. Guys like you need to realize other people don't exist just to make you feel special and never offend you. You secret king.

Go get an education.

Now watch these Asperger's forum trolls go add that to "UGC's lies", "another one guys, UGC said Ruckman threw me in a garbage can! That never happened!"

These bozos refuse to take the Bible literally yet they can't discern when someone is being sarcastic and making a joke, and take THAT literally instead.

You grumpy, anti-social, unsaved, anti-Christian, anti-Jesus, anti-Gospel pharisees need to get out from your mama's basements and go socialize with people for once in your lives. Maybe one day you can learn what it means to hang with the fellas and tell a joke without one of you crying and running to mommy because it hurt your feelings which apparently run the universe.

Everyone, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING, illinoisguy entered the room.
Be verrryyyyy careful about everything you say, he's a sensitive boy.
Don't talk about any truths that are too harsh: he might file a complaint.

What a little loser. Get over yourself. The universe doesn't revolve around your offended, selfish, inflated view of yourself and your fantasy utopian snow globe of a world you want everyone to live in with you.

Preachers will not alter or soften the truth of God's word just because your emotions were nicked or it wasn't delivered on your preferred silver platter, so therefore you rated it 2 stars instead of 4. What a spoiled little snowflake, trying to force everyone around him into his delusion of a though-policing society where no one is allowed to offend him.

You Orwellian Communist. Get out of our country and go become a hermit, isolated from the hardships and facing the cold, hard truths of life all by yourself in the mountains where no one can ever offend you again. This world is not a utopia, and it is not our home. You are in a spiritual war. Stop trying to turn all of the soldiers you're jealous of into picnic boy scouts. We're not all waiting around for you to grow up, and we're not stopping just because you're jealous and terrified to become a man yourself.

Wrong. Strong's is one of the oldest and most reliable.

Strong's Concordance simply provides a number so that those of you, who do not know Greek, can find the Greek word (and works in most cases, but not all).

So, while that is the only tool you have the ability to use... and since you do not know Greek, your ability to state that this is the oldest and most reliable lexicon is mind-numbing... you are sucking information from your own ignorant thumb.

The numbering system you are using is RECENT. It wasn't part of the original CONCORDANCE. It is Copyright © 1987, 2011 by Helps Ministries, Inc.

While it gave you the right word, in this case, it certainly did not provide you enough information.

"We know Greek, but we don't know what metanoia means"

This is the Roast!

#TheROASTofFFF

Better repent of that FALSE GOSPEL or you'll be ROASTING forever!

inb4 illinoisguy: "God is abusing me in hell! What's wrong with God! I was good, he should have let me in! He should have done it my way! I don't agree that you can just trust Christ as savior and that he paid for all of our sins, I wanted to feel good about myself and show God I could turn from my sins to get in!"

HELPS comes from Thediscoverybible Software and replaced Strong's original numbering system.

HELPS comes from
You better ask for God's help at this point, False Gospel FSSL.

I'm going to start calling you UFG (Unsaved False Gospel): the opposer of UGC (and the Bible for that matter).

Pronounced "Ooofgh".

Oofgh: collector of bad Lexicons written by pharisees with a 70 IQ.

Since you claim that metanoia's etymology proves it has only that meaning... I suppose we should all believe that your ministry is all about burying churches.

Since you claim that metanoia's etymology proves it has only that meaning... I suppose we should all believe that your ministry is all about burying churches.
Zero logic here. You sound about as smart as the famous Lordship morons.

So... etymology works only when you want it to.
Still building his imaginary argument, much like Lordshippers created their imaginary doctrine that God hates and is found nowhere in the Bible.

Still waiting for Oofgh here to address all of UGC's response posts.

Wrong. Strong's is one of the oldest and most reliable.

Utter nonsense, as usual. Strong's Hebrew and Greek dictionaries were quick references. As he put it in the preface to the Hebrew dictionary, they are

brief and simple Dictionary of the Biblical Hebrew and Chaldee [that] will be useful to students and others, who do not care at all times to consult a more copious and elaborate Lexicon and it will be particularly serviceable to many who are unable to turn conveniently and rapidly, amid the perplexities and details of foreign characters with which the pages of Gesenius and Furst bristle, to the fundamental and essential points of information that they are seeking.

The Greek and Hebrew dictionaries together are only about 200 pages--not even close to comprehensive, let alone "most reliable." By design, it was a convenience, little more.

You threw yet another temper tantrum because someone dared to say Strong's wasn't a good lexicon. You didn't even bother to read Strong's own words.

LOL! What an idiot.

The state of the art in Greek lexica in Strongs' day (and, most likely, the ones that he derived his own from, along with the aforementioned Gesenius and Furst for Hebrew/Aramaic) were Liddell-Scott and Thayer.

Wrong. The word metanoia does not mean to change your "way of life". That is found nowhere in the word metanoia, and that would be works salvation.

You ignorant clown. You didn't even bother to read, let alone quote, the actual Strong's dictionary entry for metanoia.

(subj.) compunction (for guilt, includ. reformation; by impl. reversal (of [another's] decision):--repentance.

"Reformation" of what, clown? What does one reform after feeling guilt about it?

Liddell-Scott mentions the NT usage of μετάνοια meaning "repentance" in passing (LIddell and Scott, A Greek-English Lexicon, 8th ed., s.v. μετάνοια), but as this is primarily a lexicon for classical Greek secular literature rather than the Bible, I'll just note that and move on.

As for Thayer, on the other hand:

μετάνοια, -οίας, , (μετανοέω), a change of mind: as it appears in one who repents of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done, Heb. xii. 17... esp. the change of mind of those who have begun to abhor their errors and misdeeds, and have determined to enter upon a better course of life, so that it embraces both a recognition of sin and sorrow for it and hearty amendment, the tokens and effects of which are good deeds (Lact. 6, 24, 6 would have it rendered in Lat. by resipiscentia), [A.V. repentance]: Mt. iii.8, 11; Lk. iii. 8; [16 Lehm]; xv. 7; xxiv. 47; Acts xxvi. 20;... μετ. ἀπὸ νεκρῶν ἔργων, that change of mind by which we turn from, desist from, etc.Heb. vi. 1 [B. 322 (277)]; used merely of the improved spiritual state resulting from deep sorrow for sin, 2. Co. vii. 9 sq. (Thayer, A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, s.v. μετάνοια.)

Of course UGC would have us believe that Strong's, "one of the oldest and most reliable" of Greek lexicons (though it was only a convenient quick-reference), would contradict the more comprehensive, scholarly, and reliable lexica that he likely used as sources.

It is to laugh.

This is essentially stating "metanoia is to change one's way of life as a result of metanoia". Did you get that?
You mean, did I spot your continual and dishonest appeal to the etymological fallacy? Yes. And I laughed. You can't argue without resorting to every obvious fallacy in the book (which you never read), you can't do research, let alone explain how to use a dictionary properly, you can't respond to a post without completely misrepresenting what it says in every detail, and you can't even express yourself without resorting to all caps and huge text, the online equivalent of autistic screeching.

In short, you're an incompetent boob, and the sworn enemy of reason itself.

All the bluster is a smokescreen, to try and hide the fact that their actual points (assuming they have any) are just more windbaggery.

That's Ruckmanism and psycho-fundyism in a nutshell: a heaping serving of hot air, served with hot-air sauce on the side.
