What are you listening to right now?

After the "Say hello to my little friend" thread appeared about Al Pacino and his 29 year old wife, I immediately thought of this song. It's about one person who's twice as old as the other person. If you speak Spanish, you'll understand it. If you don't, I'm sure you will enjoy this man's voice and the melody. It's essentially saying for her to take his hand and face life as they walk together in this prohibited love.

Jonathan Edwards, the 18th century Theologian, married his 17 year old wife Sarah, when he was 24. Some would call him a pedophile.

.
My beloved grandfather was 7 years older than my grandmother. And they were married for 64 years!!!
Isn't there something in the Bible about the number 7 . . . .

That only raises eyebrows because our current laws are stricter in that respect. Neither Sarah Pierpont's age nor the age difference between her and Edwards would have been scandalous in their day. There was no demographic category of "teenager" in the 18th century. Sarah was a woman.

Today in Ontario,16- or 17-year-olds may get married (16 being the age of consent), with the permission of both parents. So Edwards' marriage is still legal in some jurisdictions, though obviously today it would raise considerably more eyebrows than in 1727.
