Nor I am thrilled with Ron Paul, though I did vote for him in 1988 when he ran on the LP ticket. I love his domestic policy, but loathe his foreign policy.
I can live with Romney or Gingrich, though I'm worried about electability with both, as both have easily exploited vulnerabilities. I'd probably be happiest with someone who didn't even run, the compromise choice of a brokered convention (which now seems very possible -- hard to see how anyone will get a majority of the delegates). Say, someone like Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie.
Obviously you are quite liberal if you say Santorum is too socially conservative for you.
I am a libertarian, just like Ron Paul except on foreign policy, and just like him, a strict constitutionalist. Santorum really lost me when, during one of the earlier debates, he said he'd violate the 10th Amendment to keep the states from doing anything immoral (and that was very nearly his exact words). I was shocked to hear anyone who claims to be a defender of the Constitution say such a thing.
