Well... it over... Romney Gets the Ultimate Endorsement

I like Santorum. He seems like a honest man. I just don't think he has national appeal. I might be wrong.

I am impressed by him. I followed him when he was in PA.  Very impressed. He has character.  Unlike Mr. Obama.

I would be okay with Santorum with those who now remain...but I fear that Romney is the establishment's boy and just like McCain he will get the nod...and the result will be the same...four more years of Obama.

I liked Santorum for some time.  It concerns me that he could not win his home state as an incumbent senator.  However, its not likely that any Republican will carry PA.

I'm in Florida and we're looking closely at Newt not Romney...........it's going to be a toss up here between the two. We want someone to beat Obama otherwise we are headed into socialism :(

Out of the remaining group I am hoping Santorum can get some traction...I believe he can be Obama head to head...maybe we ought to nominate Governor Brewer...she wont back down.

I sure wish Marco Rubio would have ran. :(  But, out of what we've got, I do like Rick Santorum.  I wish we could put Newt's sharp mind in his body.  ;)  And, that's not to say that Santorum is not intelligent.  Not at all.  But, Newt is one of the sharpest debaters I've ever seen. :)

Little doubt that Newt is sharp in a debate and that a debate between him and Obama would be fun to watch...Obama would not stand a chance....but I am still not sure that Newt can win, and I am not really sure that I would want him to.

I agree on both points.  Here's the deal. I don't hold his past against him (and, who could be more flawed in character & deed than the current POTUS?) but, it gives me pause.  AND, I don't care what he has or hasn't done for the last 20 years, the media will destroy him.  It's funny  how "moral" they get when it comes to Republican candidates, but when it's a Democrat it's "just sex", "it's no big deal", etc., etc.  They're disgusting.... :-\

You mean they don't actually treat everybody fairly...who would have thunk it! :o

Newt's sharp mind is not in his body?  Where does he keep it?  ;)

I don't favor Santorum. He's too socially conservative for me, and tends a little too theocratic. I guess I could vote for him if Obama was the alternative, but I'd really have to hold my nose.

Nor I am thrilled with Ron Paul, though I did vote for him in 1988 when he ran on the LP ticket. I love his domestic policy, but loathe his foreign policy.

I can live with Romney or Gingrich, though I'm worried about electability with both, as both have easily exploited vulnerabilities.  I'd probably be happiest with someone who didn't even run, the compromise choice of a brokered convention (which now seems very possible -- hard to see how anyone will get a majority of the delegates). Say, someone like Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie.

I like Marco Rubio, he's bright and very telegenic, but it's not his time yet. The biggest problem with Obama is his ideology, but also that he was a first-term senator without executive experience. Replacing him with another first-term senator without executive experience... is, well, not our best case. Rubio would be a strong VP choice for Romney, if that's who we wind up with.

I think Newt is not right on too many positions.  Santorum is Catholic, I believe, but he is strong on many of the points that I stand on. Abortion is the biggest one.

"Senator Santorum is stronly pro-life. He has repeatedly asserted that life begins at conception and that that life should be protected under law. Senator Santorum does not beleive in the exceptions that some pro-life people grant for rape. He has stated that the life that results from a rape is innocent and deserving of the protection of the law.

In a 2011 interview, Senator Santorum spoke in a radio interview about his pro-life stances and desire to see Roe vs Wade overturned and the decision on the legalization of abortion returned to the people and the states.

In March of 2011, Senator Santorum generated controversy when he stated that abortion had contributed to the pressure on social security by lessening the number of people in the subsequent generations. He stated that a third of the potential population had not been born due to abortion.

In April of 2011, Senator Santorum discussed his opposition to funding for groups such as Planned Parenthood. He added that the origins of Planned Parenthood were related to eugenics and racism and that the modern day actions of the nation mirror those purposes as abortion clinics are located in predominately minority and poor neighborhoods.

In June of 2011, Senator Santorum reasserted in a Meet the Press interview that did not believe in the exceptions for an abortion in the case of rape. He stated that even under these circumstances, abortion was still taking a life. When discussing how abortion could be controlled, Senator Santorum stated that he believed that doctors who perform abortions should be punished. These sentiments were mirrored in the Iowa debate, when Senator Santorum backed these comments by stating that rapists themselves are not sentenced to murder, but children created in a rape could be aborted even though they had committed no crime. He stated that this pointed to a flawed moral compass in the nation."

Obviously you are quite liberal if you say Santorum is too socially conservative for you.
