Watered down churches more dangerous than Democrats

Why yes, Ransom is a nit picker. But I also think he's one of the good guys.

For myself, I am not liberal, except by the rather eccentric IFB definition "more liberal than we ultraconservatives are", but straight down the middle orthodox as I see it. Of course, my understanding is as "through a glass darkly", and always subject to revision as I learn more.

A good article.

"Christian Militancy" refers to the idea shared by all true Fundamentalist Baptists that "Jesus and the Bible come first."  All other authority in the life of a true Fundamentalist Baptist Christian must therefore have a lower priority to the claims of Jesus and the Bible."

Agreed that Jesus and the Bible are the two biggest things, by a wide margin. Everything else is pretty weak by comparison. But I'm not especially militant, nor do I claim to be fundamentalist, except that I agree with the historic 5 fundamentals.

Right now I'm in the process of switching denominations, from Assemblies of God to Episcopal/Lutheran (my new intended church is affiliated with both).

You seem like a knit picker to me.

If I'm the nit-picker, why are you the one who is arguing that this paraphrase is "biblical" when that one is not, based only on your subjective impression? I assume that "ask Jesus into your life" and "accept Jesus as your personal savior" refer to the same experience; it is you that is saying they are something different.

Nonetheless, neither one is "biblical."

Watered down church:  Giving some little feel good stories, not telling people how to be saved, not explaining salvation and acting like everyone is saved.

And I thought the assembly of believers {the local church} was an assembly of believers. Who knew?

If modern day Bible believing churches would preach the gospel with the power of the Holy Ghost we could turn this country around.  Democrats are not the problem, they are the result of watered down churches.

Some of them might be. But I was in several Bible preaching churches where there were democrats, and although we disagreed politically, they were not the problem with this country, either because of watered down preaching or anything else weak in the church.

I couldn't tell that at all. (cough cough)

Meanwhile.....how's your quest to find out who built the pyrimids.

Sorry if I am not on your level.

Only those who have been born again are saved.

No, just copied.

Jesus wants to dwell in our heart.

Yeah? Also not biblical.

Especially since the Holy Spirit indwells all people including the unsaved.

You don't believe the HS is omnipresent and does not influence all people from one degree to another?

Fixed.

And I couldn't agree more. In fact, I couldn't agree more with your original statement either (prior to my "fix"). I think blind party politics are the result of (cause of?) watered-down churches. Solid biblical principles applied consistently would show that none of the political parties have a lock on the "God" worldview.

Religion is of man, Salvation is of God is the way I see it.

Except for those pesky cases where religion is of God...

Similar thing said by Ironman at the other forum.

Glad to see someone else agrees with me.  Some on this forum just wanted to nit-pick about the wording I used instead of the main issue at hand.
