Some words commonly used at HAC were the words, "turned in".  It may have been, "I'm going to turn you in" or "I'm going to turn myself in".  As all HAC students would learn, these words meant that someone was going to be getting in trouble from the staff/faculty.

A true Hacker felt it was their God-given responsibility to turn people in.  Some felt that it gained them brownie points with staff.  Some felt that it made them more spiritual.  Some felt that it was the right thing to do.

Ok, it's confession time.  Let's hear the stories of people that you personally turned in.  Let's hear the stories of the time(s) you were turned in by others.  Perhaps you know a story of someone else who was turned in.

Hacker Nation, let's hear from you!

Because we worked 3rd shift, we had overnight passes.
Several of us, who worked at various trucking companies, worked Sunday Night, several of us did not.
None of us, however, worked Sat.night.
And for a long time, that was free time.
We would go up and down the major thoroughfares of NWI looking for people with car trouble, and we would help them and witness to those who would listen.
We'd eat at 3a.m. at WhiteCastle or Dennys on rt 30.

We never hot in trouble, or dishonored Christ, or anything.
In fact, the wait staff would fight over serving us, because we would tip very well, and even paid for bad checks that fellow HACkers had written, to try to rebuild our testimony.

Needless to say, at some point, some Poindexter decided he couldn't live with the guilt, or he "got right at an altar call", and turned us in.
After that, the days you worked were verified,  and that last ray of hope of any time to follow God as He saw fit, instead of how the Nazis determined it, was gone forever.

* This post is sprinkled with some exaggeration for humor's sake, in case certain Southern Baptists read it *

OK, time to confess...I turn myself in...I once stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Read the Hotel Gideon Bible all night.

I feel much better now.

He was such a Hacker back then that he would have turned you in!

Years ago we used to vote on the college rules, annually, so we always read them through.

I seem to remember we had a rule in place, it was a gotcha, that if you knew of someone breaking a rule you were required to turn them in, if you didn't and someone turned you in for not turning them in you could be expelled. Is that still on the books?

I suppose not as in recent years they are doing pretty much as they please, they have almost no supervision from the deacons.

I know Schaap got rid of many rules as he tried to stem the tide of students leaving and not coming back.
He did not keep the deacons informed on what he was doing, deacons always got the blame, even with Bro. Hyles.

Bro.Hyles was a coward.
He hid behind the deacons, when it was convenient.
My father served on the board for 12 years, and told me the other side of the whole "deacons make the rules" bit.
If Hyles wanted a rule in place, he railroaded it through, in his charismatic manner.
If Schaap wanted a rule in place, he just called Ray Young, or whoever his liason was, and it was added or subtracted.

I remember, those who confronted Schaap about HAC matters, were given the excuse that he didn't have much oversight there.

Raider and I attended HAC in the early 80's.
I turned myself in after sharing copyrighted electronic media SS Lessons with him. Oh, wait that wasn't back in the 80's. That was last week, but I did it unawaringly.

You need to make a couple of trips to the South Hallway Desk!

There were so many people looking for someone to "turn in" that I vowed not to turn anyone in unless they were committing a great crime.  Stinkin' Hackers!!

I never turned anyone in, I was too busy keeping myself out of trouble.

I did get turned in another time. My roommate was in the clinic, and I went to "see" her, got caught sneaking out!! I still remember making eye contact with the girl who saw me!!!

I was such a wicked, wicked person!! Let me confess....I use to take two desserts and two chips on Sat and Sun from the gag bags.

I should have gotten turned in for all the times I drove buses 75 mph on the toll roads trying to make it to PM church on time.

One time I was driving out in Elgin, IL, heading back to church.  We were on a four lane road and I was hustling to get back to PM church on time.  I actually kept up with some dude & his girl on a Harley.  Both of us stopped at a red light simultaneously and he looked at me and yelled, "With the way you drive, I'd never send my kid to your #@&*@!! church".  :o

Well, I'm still here to tell the story, which means I didn't flip him off!  8)

I was in the infirmary once.  My infirmary cell mate's boyfriend stood out in the courtyard and they talked through the window.  This was a big no-no.  You know, she was in her PJs and he was outside.

Anyway, the clinic work scholarship worker came into our room at that time. She turned all three of us in.  I wasn't even looking out the window.  I was sitting up on my own little infirmary bed, but I guess, since I was in the same cell, I was guilty by association.
