according to someone highly knowledgeable in a similar business... . (and i;m trying to explain this in my own words).... ....once an agency has been at work for a long time protecting high risk persons and vips ... and nothing notable has happened for a long time.... .professionalism begins to fall by the wayside.... . the agents begin to develop a dangerous attitude - a false sense of security, assuming that their presence alone assures safety of the person at risk... rather than due diligence .... staying on alert... and the constant exercise of their trade craft to maintain a safe environment.....Great questions. I just saw a diagram of the layout of the rally and I can't figure out why the secret service didn't have the building where the shooter was secured as well.
in other words they get lazy..... ... and if newly hired field agents come into a group or unit already populated by veteran agents who have become lazy like that.. then those new hires start off lazy... .. and in some case never progress or learn from the veterans the vital on the job knowledge about their craft they need to know...things that can;t be learned in accademic study or regular classroom training..... the whole group develops a culture of do nothingness because for a long time - possibly many years - they have literally had nothing to do........ they become basically useless and the principle they are supposed to protect becomes vulnerable.....
she said that kind of state of affairs was on full display in the moments after the shooting took place... and also said the agents piling onto the platform trying to protect trump looked like a bunch of keystone cops.. .. the veteran agents who had been off their guard jumped into action when they saw what was happening and the newly hired ones tried to follow suit and do what they were all supposedly trained to do... ..but their low state of readiness showed in a lack of coordination and what looked like a state of panic to witnesses and the crowd......
she says special units like that are supposed to stay sharp by constantly training when they are not in actual service - and by going through live action practice scenarios and drills... another person here who use to train navy and marine corp combat medics during war games by going with them to shadow them on maneuvers and teach them what to do in as close to an on the job training scenario as possible - how to perform live saving skills under fire without getting killed themselves - fully agreed with that..... he said it looked like the whole secret service corps needs to be taken back to basics and put through the training mill.... ..it was really a miracle trump survived.... and one we are very thankful to God for....
