Heard this quote on the radio attributed to a very famous evangelical preacher:

"The Bible clearly teaches that God’s love for His People is of such magnitude that even those who walk away from the faith have not the slightest chance of slipping from His hand."

This idea was referred to as "free grace" theology.  Thoughts?

I think it opposes what Hebrews teaches. It is the view of Zane Hodges and Charles Ryrie.

But will he return? Will he be happy "away" from the faith? God's Children don't stay in the pig pen.

A more descriptive term would be cheap grace.

So you actually believe those in Christ can "slip from His hand"?

I think it would really need to be heard in context of the greater message.  If he is stating a belief that you cannot lose your salvation, I agree.  If he is stating that even those who reject Christ will still enter heaven, I disagree.

By the way, there is no "walking away" from salvation.  The Good Shepherd will pursue.

I am one who wandered away, all through my teens, was pursued and brought back.

What if I hadn't come back? I don't know.

If you're elect, you will come back.  There is no "if" about it.

If you're truly saved, you will come back. Children don't stay in the pigpen.

You may be right. I think you probably are. But I have only Reformed theory that says.

John 6
37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.

So you actually believe those in Christ can "slip from His hand"?

Do you really believe those in Christ can continue to happily live like the Devil as if they weren't saved?  (Romans 6)

So you haven't lived like the Devil since you meet Christ? Did you slip from His Hand? Did you climb back into His Hand?

I've meet a lot of people who talked big but in the end..... they are no better than anyone else. We all fail. I mean.... WE ALL FAIL. I am not justifying sin. Yet, I honestly believe that if we could fall from grace....WE WOULD ALL FALL FROM GRACE. Greater men than us all have fallen. Yet, the Lord upholds the righteous. We are nothing without Him.

Psa 37:23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Psa 37:24  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

If there is one truth and I more certain of than anything..... its the fact that those in Christ are keep by the power of God.

Yes, I have. For several years when my wife left me. I can't explain my bitterness. You can't... unless you've been there.

Do you consider yourself better than anyone else that has?

Here would be another few quote from the same author to clarify his beliefs:

“Even if a believer for all purposes becomes an unbeliever, his salvation is not in jeopardy."

"Saving Faith is not necessarily a sustained attitude of gratefuleness for God's gift. It is a singular moment in time wherein we take what God has offered."

I also firmly believe in the perseverance of the SAINTS.
Not everyone who calls me Lord wont enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Not everyone who professes, possesses.

No. Certainly not.  Do you consider yourself the exception to the clear teaching of Scripture due to your circumstances?  1 John 2
