Was stationed at Ft. Monmouth for tech school (Air Force detachment).  One of my buds got a car so 3 of us drove to DC for a weekend.  We stopped at McGuire (first AFB after basic) and looked around.  We went to eat and couldn't believe how great the food was compared to Army food.  Tables had white linens and nice girls came and bussed your table.  We couldn't believe it.  Probably on base for no more than 2 hours.

Joint service school.  We were detached out of Biloxi.  We had it pretty good, except for the food. The Army grunts lived in open bay barracks.  9 months there.  Great memories.

My dad was retired Navy. We did grocery shopping at Fort Dix sometimes in the late 60s. Remember getting my haircut there also.
