Is it just me or the people who flock to this website seem to be mighty judgmental and caustic? The majority of the content is lathered in venom that to me does not seem very Christ like.

They are at least as judgmental and caustic as the people who flock to this forum. Of course, we are talking about a hypothetical "they", and I recognize that we have pretty much every type of person represented here, some extraordinary kind and some...

...and they have some people that are extraordinarily kind and some...

Yep he is referring to you

It's supposed to be a humor page to make people laugh (hopefully in a good way not an evil school bully way). If people are angry on this page then either they have no sense of humor or the page isn't that funny.

Well, I had you in mind Mr Osbourne...;)

I think Darrell Dow himself isn't mean spirited not a lot of posters there, but, like here, it only take a couple rotten apples....

Darrell is usually pretty fair, but the whole concept of the site is mean spirited.  He finds some little tidbit of fundyism that is laughable and then holds it up for everyone to tear into.  When they go too far he justifies it by saying they've been hurt and we should give them a pass.  It seems like there is no moderator there, if there is, they have extremely lax standards for moderation.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot, of posters there who were at one time in Fundamentalist churches of some kind, and are now agnostic. And they hate, despise, and mock anyone who believes the bible, opposes gay marriage or believe in complementarian marriage.  There are several who look for every opportunity to flaunt the non-Christian view, challenge any conservative view, and ridicule genuine Christians.  There is one moderator who is a pastor's wife, and is still in what she calls a fundy lite church. She seems balanced and fair. However, she hardly ever points out the angry, vindictive or persistently atheistic rants of certain regular posters.  rs2ca goes there and gets the short end of the stick, but some times he or she (I am not sure what it is) deserves it because of their rambling, pointless, and antagonistic posts. I am careful not to engage the unbelievers much.  They have had many people come there and try to "witness" to them fundy style, even though they are probably just mainline evangelicals.

Overall, there is a mean, angry spirit.  There is one particular woman who was in Hyles' church until recently, who must have lots of time, because she will raucously mock anyone who questions her pro-gay, bible hating posts. And she will keep at it for long periods, long after the discussion at hand is over.  And Darrell just turns a blind eye.  I think he likes the traffic and the ad revenue.

Darrell is a fantastic moderator. He allows all to post their opinions as long as they are not using profanity. Not everyone there is a Christian, but I have not personally had my Christianity attacked...Fundyism will be challenged at every turn though (Fundyism is NOT the same thing as Christianity).

On the forum side, Darrell provided separate boards for discussing Christianity and alternative religions to keep the peace (like the FFF did).

Former Fundies came out of churches where no one dared challenge anything taught by the mannogawd. At stufffundieslike, there are no more sacred cows - everything is up for discussion and sometimes ridicule.

A lot of bad ideas deserve ridicule.

I find some of the topics not reflective of my former brand of Fundyism, while others are so spot on they give me flashbacks. There is enough in common to form that community even though many have different religious views today.

Face it, many Fundy ideas deserve to be heartlessly deconstructed - Courtship and excessive pastoral authority, for example.

I suspect such open  discussions are causing people to second guess their Fundy churches teachings, and that upsets many.

Quoting the old saying often mentioned from the pulpit of my former Fundy church:

"Throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the the one that got hit."

Fundies are just not happy to have such freedom of speech allowed.

So be it.

I didn't know there even was a forum.  All I've experienced is the blog and the comments.  I'm not buying the "Darrell is a great moderator" line either, because I've seen profanity there several times.  I've also seen people make fake usernames and pretend to be someone else.  That's not great moderation.

As far as some fundy ideas being worthy of ridicule, I agree with you.  I think there are some parts of fundyism that deserve to die a quick death.  But I've been around enough dear old saints to know that even those fundy ideas often held by innocent, well meaning people.  There are a lot of people who hold to some of the bad fundy ideas because they don't know any better and have never known anything different.  Sicking the rabid dogs on them for the form of entertainment isn't fair, isn't nice and isn't Christian.

Sorry, but I don't care what your bad experiences in fundy churches are, it doesn't justify the kind of bloodlust that is routine at SFL.

Maybe, but not everyone that goes there are being blood lustful,... Im not angry nor bitter, but I do like the comic relief it provides and it helps me to remember times of past and now laugh about it....By saying that, you can make mention of several IFB types on this forum doing the same thing, just hang around, you'll see it eventually.

Don't you know that, like blacks can't be racist, former fundys can't be judgmental and caustic.  :)
