Obama is a calculated, purposely deceitful ideologue....pushing his agenda.
Smellin is 'somewhat deceived', low information, naive and idealistic.
Obama twists and lies about the facts...Smellin is just blinded by his desire to do-good to those oppressed by 'the man'. He believes that his pure motive overcomes the fact that liberalism is a disaster anywhere it is applied.

Smellin is an ideologue.
He isn't naive, or uninformed, but rather , like Obama and other pure ideologues, myself included, chooses a position from which his purposeful treason can be most effective.
He may, at times, say something that he would once have said is not true.
He believes that he isn't lying.
He hates injustice so much, that he has taken up with the unjust to see that the other unjust can do no harm.
For Instance:
"Misogyny" in the Pauline Epistles.
In order to right a perceived wrong, he has taken up with those who dismiss Salvation by Grace through Faith + Nothing...ie Rome.
But, since treason has no bottom, he has attacked Rome as well.
Conservatism isn't the answer, so it must be destroyed. So he takes up with liberalism when it suits him.
Of course, Liberals recognize Peter, at the fireside, and so he catches heat from them as well.
Peter wasn't scared, he was angry at Jesus for constantly yanking him around.
1 minute he is the one who the Spirit of God reveals things to, and the next he is Satan, the enemy who doesn't care at all for the things of God.
1 minute he is told to get a sword, the next he is reprimanded for using it.
Smellin still holds the position that he seeks to right wrongs, but often bullies to get there now.
He is anything but under informed, or naive.
Like most boys that idolize their Mothers, he is crafty.
