He does seem to have been doing a decent job; I wish he would clean house and apologize for the errors in the past, but otherwise... pretty good.

While apologizing for the errors of the past administrations may seem like a great idea, I don't know how he would ever get all of the facts straight.  The Schaap situation is public knowledge.  i'm not sure how or why Wilkerson would apologize for that situation.  Going back from there I'm sure there are a lot of "he said, she said" situations that would never be able to get to the bottom of.

IMO, Wilkerson needs to be aware of the accusations of the past and just move forward.  On the other hand, if he feels staff members should have handled the Schaap situstion differently he can always "drain the swamp".  ;)

I know for a fact that Wilkerson has been made aware of some of the 'fall in grace" that DH had, but chooses (for whatever reason) not to make waves with his current staff members like Eddie Lapina who continue to cover up what DH did.  All in the name of damage control for the cause of Christ.
Hogwash.
On several occasions I have heard Eddie publicly acknowledge what Dave did and the fact that it was not dealt with as it should have been. He has also discussed how damaging it was to his fellow teens including some in his own family. He has several sermons he has preached around the country in which he discusses the hurt Dave caused and the scares it left. You have to remember Eddie was not in a leadership position at that time and had little to do with what happened or how it was handled.

Yet won't talk to or make eye contact with the girls DH raped......  ;(

That EL Would not meet with them or talk to them.  I know for a fact that he did meet with at least one (the main one) with others in the room who seemed to take on representing more than herself.

And as it would play out and things began to reveal themselves, some who claim victim then went on and continued in their own sinful indulgences over multiple years and multiple fornications/adulteries proving what was once thought of them by most during the DH years to be true.  Now it has ended in devastation of an innocent and good man's ministry.  It came home to roost and yet they are heralded as a saint.  I had hope but was again made disappointed.  While commendable, It is so sad that those who have been innocent are accused of cover up as they held their silence and know these secrets and still do not get in the mud and speak evil about the accusers and/or legitimate victims, not even to me.  Me I guess not so much, though I am trying to be careful, those who know and understand know and understand.  It will all get revealed someday.  Sad that so many of us forget that.

Yes, you are not comprehending.

Just trying to clarify - are you saying that because the young girls that Dave took advantage of later became promiscuous we should not believe that they were preyed on by a person in a position of authority over them - their youth director and the preacher's son? Do you hold that same belief about the alleged promiscuity of Jack Schaap's victim?

I sincerely hope I am misreading your comments Tides.

NOPE!

Never said that.  I have a history here of not saying that.  I believe that DH is fully responsible for his actions and should have been prosecuted to the full extent of the law for statutory rape.  What I am saying is that everyone has to take responsibility for their own dung.  And there is no excuse then later to blame it on someone else or for what someone did against me.  That is the very exact definition of the word iniquity.  That which I use to excuse my own trespass.    Now to recast history in order to make a hero out of someone and then accuse everyone else who ever lived in the community for being responsible is preposterous.  Now we have a perfect case of deflection going on because certain continuing peccadillos came to light.

Thanks for clearing that up - kind of. I guess I still don't understand this part:

"Now to recast history in order to make a hero out of someone and then accuse everyone else who ever lived in the community for being responsible is preposterous.  Now we have a perfect case of deflection going on because certain continuing peccadillos came to light. "

Maybe it's because I don't know to whom you are referring. And I don't know who this statement pertains to either:

"Now it has ended in devastation of an innocent and good man's ministry."

Given what you just posted I'm guessing it isn't Dave Hyles.

On the other hand, if he feels staff members should have handled the Schaap situstion differently he can always "drain the swamp".  ;)

It seems clear that certain staff people had absolute knowledge of wrongdoing and were covering up.  These people should be let go.

He should also teach and preach (maybe he does) that the pastor is not the members' God - they have the same Holy Spirit and have access to the same counsel that the pastor does. Any teaching to the contrary is wrong.

I think he could more clearly distance himself from the erroneous teaching of the past.
