Random Pictures

In 2019 I started a '50 strangers' project that I never finished. I would approach perfect strangers on the street and and ask for their photos. I'd give a card with a URL where they could download the photo if they wanted it. I posted them on Facebook when I had an account.

There was an open air bar and this biker was seated facing the street.

Asking permission was a courtesy. A release isn't necessary in public venues, and even in a bar or restaurant, or other private facility open to the public, unless a prohibition is conspicuously posted, no permission is required.

Folks don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy in public.

If a person is in public, anyone can be photographed or videotaped—no consent required. After all, we’re being recorded and photographed literally anywhere we go—streets, banks, restaurants, stores…you name it.
