Cue the inevitable prognostications about St. Malachy and the "last pope."
Roman Catholics have a massive "prophetic" and eschatological gig predicting the end of the papacy. And they're about as successful as the Dispy prophecy "experts" predicting the Rapture.

Flags are being flown at half staff in honor of "his holiness". I don't recall if such a directive has ever been extended for any pope in the past.

I think it has ended for many Catholics who idolized Francis.
I went on to our local AFR Base and asked SF why the flag was being flown half mast, he said it's b/c the pope died. I looked at him and kind of shrugged and chuckled, he looked at me and kind of shrugged and chuckled.
