What's all this have to do with controlling pests?

I took this post as Twisted equating controlling pastors with pests. Did I misinterpret his post? I thought he put pestoral on purpose, he is good at inventing new words. All in good humour.

Good observation. I think you're on to something.

Stick around.  You'll figure it out.

I grew up in Baptist churches my entire life. I think the longest we ever had a single pastor was six years. I never saw this desire for pastoral control until I came to Hammond.

Just heard a guy yesterday on the radio. I won't mention his name but he is from Santa Clara. He said that you don't need to decide anything about the church because God will give you a man of god to tell you what to decide.

Assuming it's the famous church there, they were influenced by Hyles' unscriptural philosophy.  It may also depend upon where in the country one is... I grew up in the northern US in small, rural communities and didn't notice the empire-like mentality of churches, but since moving to southern areas, I've seen more of this mentality.

My experience that is behind the OP is Southern based.

The same guy also said that he can walk into any church and see the way people dress and can immediately tell what is in their hearts. I probably would have said same thing years ago but this is a total unscriptural falsehood. I wonder what DH was wearing to church when he was breeding anything he could find. I can tell you how schaap dressed when he was breeding a sixteen year old. Etc.

I can agree with the guy on, "can immediately tell what is in their hearts". I too can look at anyone in a church and tell what's in their hearts.
I just look in my Bible where it says:
Rom 3:10  As it is written: There is not any man just.
Rom 3:11  There is none that understandeth: there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12  All have turned out of the way: they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one.
Rom 3:13  Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips.
Rom 3:14  Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Rom 3:15  Their feet swift to shed blood:
Rom 3:16  Destruction and misery in their ways:
Rom 3:17  And the way of peace they have not known.
Rom 3:18  There is no fear of God before their eyes.

That about sums it up as this is true of men, even pious pharisees.
