There has been some performance issues with the hosting I'm using for the forum. Its better now but seems to be sporadic. I've contacted support and they are working the issue.

Thanks for the patience.

I got an email in my junk mail folder that is supposed to help with performance issues. Should I forward it? ;)

I got a couple of error messages a while ago when trying to post. Glad to hear that you're on top of things and having it looked into.

It's nice to have an admin who cares about his forum. Thanks.

Wow an admin!
What a great concept. Not sure why I stayed at the FFF so long.

This is no way to run a forum!  You're supposed to leave the problem alone entirely, and when it gets really, really bad, change the forum background image.  Also, more ads.

Still having issues here and there. They are suppose to be "fixing it". Sorry for the inconvenience. It got so bad earlier that the forum was basically useless. It seems to be better now.

Thanks
Admin

I thought maybe it was because I finally registered and that was the cause of it! :D

Getting this most of the afternoon

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

am beginning to wonder if this forum was sold too.

Why, because it's been four whole hours since the webby checked in with a status update?

Personally, I haven't seen these performance issues the board is supposed to be having. Maybe my timing has just been fortuitous.

I haven't been here very long, so I may not have experienced the same problems as others.  I have seen the "server busy" message a couple of times.  But I went back one page, tried again, and got right in.  I thought to myself, "Well, good!  I'm glad this place is busy!"  It was such a minor inconvenience that, truthfully, it was no inconvenience at all.  I like it here, and I think our admin is top-notch!

edit:  Waaah!  I just tried to give karma to our admin and I got an error message!  This site is broken!!!!  Waaah!  ;)  In all seriousness, admin, I want you to know how much I appreciate the fact that you care about our experience here, and that you are on top of things.  You rock!  Consider this a big, green, thumbs up, karma plus!!

Four hours? Looks like it has been longer than that....  Is that in Canadian time maybe?

I couldn't get on this morning and last night. I had no problem earlier today and right now. I have let the admin know and they are working on it.......it's better than what we all came from :)

It has been incredibly slow at times, and even unusable occasionally.  And sometimes it's just fine.

You're using hostmonster, right?  I used hostmonster to host a site for years (the site just expired and I took it down because almost all the members stopped visiting), and performance was always a hit and miss thing.  Some days it was horrid.  Some days it was fine.

I think they are slow to really take down offending sites that ruin the experience for everyone.

LOL -- I remember once I had an error in my PHP code that caused CPU usage to go way up.  They disabled my site until I fixed the code.  I don't recall how long they allowed the problem to continue before disabling my site.

Yeah, shared hosting produces very unpredictable results.  Hostmonster is pretty good at what they do, though, which is why I stuck with them.  So I imagine they'll iron it all out eventually.

OK, six hours. I didn't realize when I wrote that, that forum time was two hours ahead of mine.

The point is the same. He checked in in the afternoon, and by evening you were complaining that the forum was abandoned. Uh huh.

Are you the owner, or do you just carry his water?
