IFB's and Catholics agree on that.  :P

But I and my denominations, past and present, don't agree. I might even become a pastor myself.

IMHO, gender is one of the least important things to consider in discerning the call.
aWOmen!!! no matter what the silly ole bible says

I think we should go by what the bible says. But I don't think it says what you think it says.

To claim the bible says women can be pastors Is foolishness, plain and simple. No matter what liberal denominations say the bible is very clear on the subject.

And some conservative denominations, such as Assemblies of God and Foursquare.

They are considered liberal by bible believers

Oh my! When I look at AG's Fundamental Truths, they look pretty darn fundamentalist to me!

I guess the only major difference is they're continuationist (which I still am, despite having left AG for the Anglican Communion).

You're such a liberal.  I bet you wear makeup and (gasp) speak in church.  Get a husband and ask him to explain everything to you at home, you hussie.

LOL!!  :-*

Well, technically, as y'all use the term, I am a liberal. In IFB language, liberal means not an actual liberal, like Schliermacher or Crossan, but anybody who's more liberal than you are. And I belong to the Episcopal church (TEC) and the Lutheran church (ELCA), both mainline/liberal denominations. (Yes, my church formally has both affiliations.) So, despite being a theological conservative in a C.S. Lewis/N.T. Wright/Gordon D. Fee kind of way, I'm a liberal.  ;D

I'm IFB and I've never used the term liberal to refer to those things that Castor mentioned and neither has any pastor or preacher who has preached at my church. In fact in the KJV Bible 'liberal' is a good word - it means generous - which we encourage people to be. How it became a derogatory term I'll never know.

Ivanette, before I respond to this post, would you please clarify who you are talking about and to which post you are responding? Thanks.

chauvinist

male chauvinism is a term used to describe the belief that men are superior to women    it is often used interchangeably with sexism and is closely associated with misogyny and perceptions of women as inferior to men especially intellectually    the unqualified term chauvinism is far more likely to refer to a male chauvinism than female chauvinism in the context of chauvinism as sexism

male chauvinism has been defined as a blind allegiance and simple minded devotion to one
