Our church was burglarized last night.

Drugs in our area is a real blight, not that it ain't bad in other places, but we've been featured on numerous national and regional media outlets for our prescription pain meds ("pill mills") pipeline problems, as well as an epidemic of meth.  The spinoff from illegal narcotics use is invariably crime.  Churches aren't exempt.  We've had catalytic converters cut off of our bus/van, air conditioners ripped apart for the metals, copper piping dug up out of the ground to our propane tank, and now we've had our church offices broken into and our safe smashed open.  They took our monitor, camcorder, and other stuff too, but they must have got spooked because they left significant technology (laptops and stuff) behind in haste.  They'll probably come back for that soon enough.  <grrrr>

Please pray for our church please.  We're small, on a budget, and hundreds of stolen dollars will be missed by our Christian school.  And pray that these punks will get caught, and get saved.

Saved and then get involved in a good prison ministry! >:(I hate to hear when churches gets done this way. I'm in construction and I've seen houses that have just been wired get totally stripped the day after.

Yes, the deputy who responded to the crime pretty much said that if a criminal is determined to burglarize you, it *will* happen.  The heartlessness and callous nature of these sorts is difficult to stomach, but I remind myself that God is in control, and in His time, things will be righted.  I was telling the deputy that it sickens me that I see this kind of stuff impact kids at Christmas in a real way, because these scum will rob the presents from under the Christmas tree without even giving it a thought.  He told me I was preachin' to the choir, and that he dreads the holiday season for that very reason, seeing those kids' faces when he takes the call, knowing that they ain't gonna catch the thugs most likely.

That really stinks. Will keep your church in my prayers,

You may consider hiring a canine protection company. A friend of mine had a business that was burglarized often and he hired a company that would come and place dogs there during the night and then come and pick them up in the morning. He told me the price was quite reasonable. Place some signs warning of the dangerous dogs and if someone breaks in- it'll likely be the last time you have such a problem.

I'm sorry, Al. We had a large amount of that my first couple of years here in Chicago, though it has dropped significantly since then. I know how aggravating and frustrating it is.

Thanks for the productive suggestion.  We actually joked about doing just that.  Not sure there would be anything around here that would offer that sort of service, but if there was/is, we may consider it.

These are crazy times...we even had a group of theives steal 12 air conditioners from a sister church here in the Phoenix area.  Praying for you Alay and praying God will touch the hearts of the theives!

Just saw this - my heart grieves. Praying with and for you and your church.

Thanks bro.

Our church air conditioning, wires were taken a few months ago and they installed a video camera that is running 24/7. When we first moved to Florida our church was broke into and we had our male doberman walk the property with my husband. We wanted people to see that the church was being guarded. No problems after that :)

We have something like that going now, but are looking into a more sophisticated system for the long term.

Could somebody who is still reading here, and is proficient in security systems, provide a net link to some good potential systems, keeping in mind that we're on a budget?

When my family first moved to the country as a kid I figured I'd walk up and down the road ("cruising" for girls :)) but that only lasted two trips down the road, as one of the neighbors had two large dobermans ran loose terrorizing the neighborhood!

Keep an eye on WOOT.com. I bought an 8 camera security system there for less than $300 a while back.

I'm vaguely familiar with Woot, but I'll pay a little more attention now.

Thanks.

I'm sorry the dobermans were being unruly...........left to themselves they can be scarey...Dobermans trained and raised with love and praise can be the best animal..........

Yeah, that's definitely true for most dogs.  If properly trained, most breeds are indeed "man's best friend".

Sad deal.....sorry, Bro.

What is sadder?  Most churches get robbed every Sunday morning.....

Mal 3:8  Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
