It really is a shame that both threads about Beverly Hyles recent passing have deteriorated into mud-slinging about things not relevant to her. That is just my opinion.
I can try and turn the focus a bit:
I thought that the memorial service was kind. Pastor Wilkerson tried to keep things centered on her. I do think that his comment that the Hyles' built Hammond, comparing it to Jerusalem, was a little misleading. If he meant that they built the FBCH, then okay, I suppose. But, Hammond was a thriving, well-established city long before 1959. I'm not sure how complicit Mrs. Hyles was in her family's misdeeds, but I've always tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because I felt she was truly a southern lady.
