I don't really give a rat's patootie whether it's the same guy or not. El Cid's posting style is much less annoying and trollish, and that's good enough for me.

Hey, thanks!  Us computer nerds have to stick together!  :)

Still using my Hackintosh    I have been running it 12 - 16 hours per day for about two months now and no panics.

Hackintosh? Why does it seem many Christians ignore software end user agreements and copyright laws?

Is it illegal to build a PC that's intentionally compatible with Mac OS X, and then to run a legal copy of Mac OS X on it? Because that's all a Hackintosh is.

Yes but Apple only wants people to buy their PCs built for Mac.  I personally see no reason to spend an extra $500.00 - $1,000.00 for their pre built products when a generic one works just fine and is half the price.

I don't like the cost of gasoline, should I find a way to steal it? If you don't like the cost of a complete Apple product then you should settle for Windows 7 or Ubuntu. Or, do what I do, purchase a used Apple product on eBay.

Or you could buy it legitimately and install it on your computer.  Get you a copy and you will never go back to Windoze of Ubuntu.  You just need to make sure your hardware is compatible.

I am perfectly happy with Windows 7 and Ubuntu. If I built one, it would just be a new toy to play with.

Regarding the legalities, I don't think it's legit for Apple to say it's only ok to install it on Apple-branded machines. If I bought it, I own it and can do what I want with it.

I agree with that statement, up to a point. Obviously you should not be able to buy software, music, movies, etc and copy it to give away or sell to others. Unfortunately, at this point in time the law disagrees with us. When you purchase software (or most music and movies for that matter) you are not buying the actual product. You are purchasing a license to use that product and the license dictates how that product can be used. I do not always agree with the licensing of a product. For example, I believe that copying a music CD for private backup purposes falls squarely within the realm of fair use. However, no matter how strongly I disagree with licensing requirements, the law as it stands right now says that they are legal. Since it is not against a Biblical principle to obey this law, if I buy a product I am duty bound as  a child of God to obey it.

There are all kinds of laws that I think are not legit, such as when you buy a piece of land and they do not let you cut down the trees, paying taxes multiple times on top of taxes, etc.

That is true.  Everybody breaks some law every day intentionally or unintentionally.  Speed limits for example.

Should a Christian break a law just because they believe it to be unfair?

That's why I drive 90mph in a 55mph zone. I feel it'sunfair for me to drive that slow when I have a car that has a speedometer that goes up to 120.

I suspect that speedometer goes to 11.

Why do cars drive on parkways and park on driveways?
