In addition to being a convicted tax cheat, now Mr. Dino is also now convicted of domestic violence in the third degree. He was found guilty of throwing his estranged maybe-not-legally-his-third-wife Cindy Lincoln to the ground, causing bodily harm. He was sentenced to a year in jail, of which he will serve 30 days with the remainder suspended. In addition he must pay a fine and court costs, as well as restitution to Lincoln for her medical expenses.

Hemant Mehta also notes that "it didn't help that Hovind recorded the incident, presumably thinking it would make him look good." Remember how back in the mid-oughts, he made self-incriminating phone calls from jail, seemingly not realizing they were being monitored? This clown just doesn't have great luck with recordings.

I hate to say it, but this man is from the area I grew up in. I believe his father used to have a realty company in the Pekin, IL area years ago, and if I'm not mistaken, Hovind at one time was the pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin, IL. UGH....His father would be rolling over in his grave if he knew how Kent turned out!

Four wives and counting for Kent. Maybe he wants to be the star of a musical. "Seven Wives For One Brother." Peter Ruckman must be jealous, wherever he is now.

PSA. Kent Hovind (AKA 'Dr.Dino') Has had 4 'Wives' in 5 Years - Protestia
It's sad to know that he's from the area I was raised in. He used to pastor the Bethel Baptist Church on Broadway in Pekin, IL, and his father used to own a real estate company in the area. He'd be rolling over in his grave if he knew how Kent turned out. I knew Kent years ago...but I'm glad I don't associate with him now!

Kent Hovind just can't seem to stay out of trouble with the law. Lots of weird stuff going on - he seems to be running some sort of cult compound down there in Alabama. He's operating without liability insurance. A boy was drowned during a baptism, and Kent used that as an opportunity to peddle his amusement park and pass out cards at the hospital. He is letting a child molester hang out at his park. There are allegations of fraud, theft, a dog shot dead, Kent beating on his wife, covering up for junkies, you name it.

I am a young earth creationist and I send money to Ken Ham and to Institute For Creation Research, but Kent Hovind is really bad publicity for the cause. He needs to be exposed and repudiated by all creationists and fundamentalists.

Young Earth Creationists are not the only ones with this issue. In fact, I am hard pressed to come up with a single group, including my beloved Calvary Chapel Association that is free of this blight.

This stuff is absolutely alarming and extremely sad!

It looks like a fun place to visit. Overall, it’s got good reviews on Google. I’d have no issue going. What kind of people are working at Disney, Busch Gardens, Carowinds, etc.?

The news media eats this kind of stuff up and tries to smear the reputation of every Evangelical Christian they can possibly get their hands upon. Kent Hovind is an absolute nutcase and good Christians who have been saying so are called "intolerant hate mongers" but once the jig is up, they will associate every Christian they possibly can with this clown. I know that people probably try to target ICR and associate Hovind with them. Hovind and Ron Wyatt are two peas in a pod which both give Creation science and archaeology a black eye!

Wasn't it Arlin Horton who initially blew the whistle on Hovind?

The criticism isn’t against the specific content of his park but rather he makes it easy for the world to caricature evangelicals.

Sorry, but, I just couldn't support anything Hovind is a part of. He's from the area I grew up in, and I knew him and his folks. He's a joke.

Arlin (or actually his wife Beka) Horton, and David Gibbs III both blew the whistle on Hovind. I am not in agreement with the second article by Greg Dixon defending Hovind - I am posting it for informational purposes only. David Gibbs III was still affiliated with Christian Law Association at the time of these proceedings, but has since left CLA and publicly denounced that organization.

Understood. There’s probably a 1% chance I’ll ever go anyway, but my point was that I read about pedophile employees getting arrested at Disney way too frequently. At the end of the day, my kid isn’t leaving my sight, whether it’s a so-called Christian venue or not.

Thanks for setting me straight.

I was unaware of the rift between Gibbs Jr. and Gibbs III! Must be rough for these two during the holidays but Kudos to Gibbs III for taking the stand he has and actually defending those who are victims of ecclesiastical and spiritual abuse! I have only seen Gibbs Jr. take the side of the "Legal Corporate Entity" and not necessarily those who are actually the ones Christ has purchased with his blood! Christian Law Association was also on the defense counsel of Earl Reeves in San Diego when he was convicted of child molestation back in the 1980s. Granted, my former pastor needed and was entitled to legal defense but such was funded by saints who were supporting the organization to fight for religious liberties!

This may be useful: Which Gibbs?

I'm wondering though if there should be more prayer for the man and not condemning him. Are we saying there isn't an ounce of sincerity in his heart towards God regardless of how much many here think he's gone amiss. Shouldn't we be praying for people who fall or fail, if that indeed is what he has done, but we pray for him to be strengthened, encouraged and restored? Are any of us perfect? The Bible states we need to be careful of the attitude we have towards others less we fail. Is that not what the scriptures say? Would we want God at the end of time ask us, "But did you pray for the man?" Or did you just throw stones?

I'm not saying I'm perfect in all things in how I've responded to things but it is good food for thought for all of us to consider.
