The immigration ban is at the top of every news headline.  During President Trump's campaign he said he was going to get tough on immigration.  He has now put a ban on immigrants from certain countries entering the U.S..

We all know that America is a melting pot.  We all know that many immigrants have helped make this nation great.  We also know of the rise of terrorism and drug trafficking in the past few years.  911 was a wake-up call to many when they saw the hatred that some have for this country.

Some believe that we should let everyone enter America (legally or illegally).  Some say that we should let anyone enter America as long as they do it legally.  Some believe that we should let anyone in legally except for those from terror sponsoring countries.  Some say that Jesus would let anyone and everyone into this country.

Hacker Nation, what think ye?

I am liking our new President more every day.

Immigration has ebbed and flowed since the founding of this nation, depending on the current administration.  Immigration used to be up to the States.  There is quite a history in our immigration policy.

However, since Reagan/Ted Kennedy opened the floodgates, America is changing.  Why?  Because before, an immigrant came here to become an American.  To work and support themselves.  They had to be healthy and have a sponsor.  No taxpayer aid.

Now, the taxpayer supports freeloaders who come here, not to become Americans, but to CHANGE America.

This, of course, is the plan of some.

I say BRAVO to Mr. Trump for DOING SOMETHING.  If it were me, I'd halt ALL immigration for at least 10 years.  I'd have minimal green-cards issued.  This would give us time to weed out the illegals and deadbeats.

Of course, if it were up to me, I'd want to be a dictator.  Free Snickers for everyone!

It is estimated illegals cost federal, state and local governments over 100 billion a year.

Education of illegals cost local governments at least 50 billion a year alone.

Though most illegals are willing to work and are very hard workers most make so little they get all their taxes back when they file their return. I disagree most are freeloaders or that most want to change America. I do agree illegal immigration is very costly and presents risks to our safety.

The legal system needs fixed and the illegals need to be stopped from coming here.

I never said "most are freeloaders".  I said taxpayers support the freeloaders.  That only applies to those who ARE freeloaders.

If these people had to have sponsors and pay their own way or starve, they wouldn't come here.

If you doubt that Mexicans aren't working to take back the Southwest and that Muslims want to overthrow the Constitution, then I suggest you pay better attention.

"They want endless immigration from the Third World to remake America into the polyglot ?universal nation? of Ben Wattenberg?s utopian vision. Trump?s followers want back the America they knew."

I'm shocked to find out no Americans have been killed in Iraq.

Ambassador Stevens wasn't an American?

That is amazing isn't it!  I guess it's ok to change history when it fits your agenda.

Well, consider the source.  I've heard he's switched to decaf.

Interestingly enough, Obama bombed five of those seven countries.... He must really hate the Trump companies.

Some would have us believe that if you are for an immigration ban that you are a cold hearted person.  The truth is that our own country is struggling, and there are tough decisions to make.

When a person who comes to America illegally can obtain better healthcare than a veteran, we have a crisis on our hands.

Years ago my mother was in the hospital, the other patient in the room could not speak English.  She had approximately 25 relatives or friends visiting her.  It appeared that none of them spoke English. For arguments sake, let's assume they were all illegally in this country.  Should people whose families have been here for generations, receive poorer care because health care is stretched beyond its limits?

Perhaps, a better analogy would be about your own house. How many strangers are you able to take in?

There are reasons countries have borders.

There are reasons countries have borders.

Let's start with the refugee does not come to this country illegally. Illegal immigrants is a totally separate issue. A refugee is a person that has fled their home country to escape war, persecution or natural disaster. They United States was the country that was chosen for them to resettle and they were vetted 18-24 months.

Illegal immigrants are not eligible for healthcare paid for by the government unless it is an emergency to save a life or reasonable function. It is a myth that they get better healthcare than veterans.

Healthcare for refugees is paid for by Medicaid which is available to all people under a certain income level.

While we need a orderly way of handling the resettlement of refugees if the US can not handle it who can. How can we ever call ourselves a great and compassionate nation all not contribute to the resettling of people who have fled because of war, persecution or natural disaster?  Famous refugees include Albert Einstein, Madeleine Albright, Freddy Mercury, Madeleine Albright, Victor Hugo, Henry Kissinger, Andy Garcia, Rafael Cruz, Billy Wilder and Gloria Estefan.

Yes people need to be vetted but we are a stronger nation because of refugees.

I grew up on the border of Mexico.  I doubt that the many people I saw cross the border were vetted; however,  you raise some good points.

My main point is that there are difficult decisions to be made.

Last year I spent the day in an IRS office.  The room was filled with mostly Hispanics.  Occasionally, the workers would announce that if anyone had come to pay, they should get in the line on the right.  In the hours that I observed, only 3 people were in the paying line. All of them were older white men.  A white man sat next to me and told me he would become an expatriate if only his wife would leave the country with him.

Health care is a serious issue.  If only I could see any doctor I wanted.)

Context is your friend. CATO made the claim. The chart didn't include it, but the parameter was "on American soil":

I compiled a list of foreign-born people who committed or were convicted of attempting to commit a terrorist attack on U.S. soil from 1975 through 2015.  Below is a table with the distribution of their countries of origin (Figure 1).

So yeah, changing context is OK when it fits your agenda as well. ;)

Besides...

No terrorist attacks post 9/11 by people from countries in Trump's travel ban?

Folks, it appears we are now living in a kleptocracy!
