one could get the idea that there;s no liberty in liberalism.... ;)

Exactly.  And "my body, my choice" rings hollow when you can't buy a 32-oz soda.

The answer to the question, no. Whether Jesus took sides on any political issues, absolutely. (Paul even more so.)

Would Jesus push the queer agenda like you are?

Well, just because the Tin Man wanted a heart, didn't mean he already had a brain.

In what way?

The parable of the vineyard workers, the good Samaritan, elevating women, that whole Kingdom of God thing and claiming to be a king...

I see your point... But He hid himself when they wanted to make Him king in John. He also seemed, to me, to point His followers to the Kingdom of God rather than getting involved in earthly disputes.
Maybe I'm wrong

He hid Himself because people wanted to make Him king using the systems of the world. They thought God would set up His kingdom in a way that looked a lot like Babylon. Yet that was never the plan; Jesus showed us (by the cross) that God's kingdom will not be a better Babylon...it will be (and is) polar opposite of (and greater than) Babylon.

Part of it is that we (myself included) have a hard time reading the Bible without seeing everything through our 21st century Western lenses. The Bible doesn't recognize a separation between religion and politics, and politics in a first century Roman providence looked a lot different than the left/right politics we instinctively/frequently divide issues into.

Jesus spoke out on moral/ Biblical issues from the Kingdom of Heaven point of view. In doing so, He hit cultural and political issues of the day. But He also didn't go out of His way to be political and indicated one could be a good citizen of two Kingdoms....render to each their own.

Today there are those who say we shouldn't 'be political from the pulpit'. But if you preach the truth, you will hit on so called hot button issues from the culture and political realm, just as He did.
Too bad some have allowed the extremist separation of church and state people to intimidate them.

As long as the political world keeps invading the religious world, we should be engaged in politics on some level.

When the pastor references the Constitution more than the Bible, you have a problem.  When the pastor quotes John Adams more than he quotes Jesus Christ, you have a problem.  When church members are challenged and engaged to solicit for campaigns instead of Christ, you have a problem.  When your pastor spends more time with lobbyists than he does members of the church, you have a problem.  When the pastor preaches against rock musicians, but follows a rock musicians performance to pray for a candidate at a campaign function, you have a problem.  When the pastor preaches against other pastors who use the KJV for a different reason than he does, yet has politicians quote from the NIV behind his pulpit while stumping for votes, you have a problem.

The Bible proclaims truth.  Truth will rise and present itself to the people.  If a policy is up for vote and violates Scripture, the pastor should preach to edify the brethren of the Scripture's teaching.  The hope for America lies not in White House, but in the church house - not in lobbyists, but in humble repentant prayer - not in stumping, but in soul winning.  Get the idea?
