I, along with many others here on the HAC forum, have had our public disagreements with some of the direction of HAC/FBCH for years now. And, speaking for myself, I do not back off of those public disagreements with this post. At the same time, it is also true that HAC/FBCH is filled with a bunch of good people, people who are still deeply hurting over the whole situation. Yes, it is my position that they bear some corporate level of responsibility for what they allowed/still allow to flourish unchecked, and some of them bear a more personal responsibility, but they are still our brethren in Christ, and hurting ones at that. May I respectfully ask that we, as we make our opinionated disagreements known on this forum, at the same time remember mercy? And may we hold them up in prayer (not the imprecatory kind either =) ), and ask the Lord to minister to them, and with them, as He draws them to Himself.

<stepping gently off my soapbox now>

Tom, you're right.  There are still a lot of hurting people, people like me that grew up from infancy.  Change is hard and what has happened to JS and then prior to that the loss of my preacher, I think it was too much.  I honestly think the only way to heal is to move away from everything.  Too much to look back on - good and bad memories.  But I know everyone else who is going to respond to this is going to say GET OVER IT!  But you know what folks you're not there.

Most of the HACkers on this forum, myself included, are on this forum because the system hurt us.  Many here have walked away from the teachings of our homeland, though a few of us still hold to the IFB truths while practicing a different methodology.

I hurt for those who are still there, because they are hurting.  I do however, hope that the hurt causes them to open their eyes to the cancer that is throughout the system in place.  I hope that they will be strong enough to self-inflict the greater pain of carving out the cancer.

I know the pain of realizing your religion is not what God wants of us.  I know the pain of struggling to discover true religion while not abandoning Scriptural principles.  I hope the folks at FBC Hammond go through the same pain I did.  God has already given them the pain of recognizing the sin, I hope they continue to search themselves.

Hello Everyone! I am new to the forum and to the site. I chose my name because I am a former bus kid from the 80's Div 5. Many of the male bus workers use to use this term a lot, so I thought that this would be a good name to give to myself. That's one of the many terms I've heard time after time while riding the bus. Its funny how names like these will stick with you forever. I as well went to City Baptist School and moved to MI and then came back to go to HAC.

You are so true that there are still many good people that go to FBC. I on the other hand had to break free of this church for various reasons. Some very personal and maybe through this site that I could get some answers from some of you old time bus workers. I look forward to hearing and responding to you all.

May I be the first to say, "Welcome Bozo!"

Um.....  Welcome!  You chose an interesting thread in which to make your first post.  Hope you find healing.

Tom, very well said. Yes, most each in our own way also carry hurt, questions, disallusionmnet. I wish Bro. Wilkerson well. Seems he has a good shoulder on his head, but from many accounts the mentality is still there as well as running rampant through IFBdom. They deny man worship while practicing it. They play the praying publican while living the Pharisee. They practice performance based Christianity while giving God all the glory. Then there are those who sit numb still wondering what happened. Either category we must realize it is not up to us to straighten out. As God calls us to salvation, each believer must be persuaded in his own heart as to practicing Christianity.

There are those who are still there that are salt of the earth trying to sort it all out. There are those still there carrying on as if nothing happened.... Fingers in the ears. Adult Charlie Brown charaster sound proceeding from the mouth.

You are right, Tom we must show mercy to all. I can't carry the water for Hammond any more. I can not explain all the internet rumors. I can not afford to have the FBCH/HAC label attached to my ministry. They carry too much baggage. At the same time I wish them no additional harm. I pray for them God's magnificent grace. May they know the knowledge of God's Word and practice it in humility.

I just scanned this thread Tom well said....if I may add we speak out because we had no voice but this forum...

Thank You to all for welcoming me to this forum. I chose this forum because it has its serious moments, but yet if your having a bad day you will find yourself chuckling a lot from some of the comments being made.

How many  of you HAC graduates and non graduates have shared your feelings to people back home in your local home church? Did you all go back home a different person because of your experiences at HAC? Did you all go into spiritual detox from this experience once you left FBCH and HAC?

Welcome, Bozo, you stinkin' Hacker!!  :)

89-2 for most of my time my Bus Captain was Paul ....(can't remember his last name)  at FBC, then went to Div 6 and then Div 3.  Division 5 Leader at the time was Roger Casteel. My Bus captain at the time in Div 3 was Ricky Torres, in Division 6 I believe I was on 76-6.

Raider,

To be called a Hacker back in the day was considered a sin, and unforgiveable and netted you some demerits. LOL

Gosh Paul Benson-His famous words were bozo and fathead. Not to mention him hitting the top of the bus a lot. Its amazing what kind of things you could remember.

Kaba, were you a bus worker? if so did you enjoy it? Did you move out of the area?

Binaca,

As I was reading your post, I can relate to the pain that you have had to carry around. Sometimes its not the system that was flawed, but the dear people who played the system, who tinkered with the system, who used the system for their own gain. There has def been a cycle of using the system by the hierarchy at FBCH and HAC and its other schools. The worst part of it all is that the very dear ones that's in control, pulled the weak and most vulnerable people in to show them how to manipulate the system and the cycle goes on and on. They took the ones in that would be loyal to their cause, and to trust them to be loyal to what they have done for them.  We all have seen what would happen if you try to speak out against the system that they have abused. I can't imagine being bought into that kind of system. I'm sure some that got laid off are wondering now, what their loyalty has meant or what it has costed them in the long run. Sure if you were in the inner, inner circle of FBCH you would have established yourself some connections over the years and would have had no problem moving forward after being laid off or sins being covered up. What happened to the ones that were just merely getting by on the salary that the church was paying them and all to be told your being let go. How do you pick up the pieces after news like that. Do you think the handwriting was on the walls before this scandal even came too light?
