How do you feel about this statement?

Mr. Kimmel is in a whole boat load of trouble.  His partners have pleaded guilty and got 10  years. Mr. Kimmel pleaded not guilty and so far the judge had a call with the 44 people he bilked out of thousands of dollars on Friday.  He will be indicted on those counts this week some time.  He has said he will fight it.  Maybe he and Schaapy boy can sit in a prison together and share their stories.

Kimmel came to a church I was at about 9 years ago, I don't remember him attempting to get me to invest money in anything, even though I spoke to him personally for about 30 minutes.
He must have started the bilking campaign after that.

Nope.  I recall him giving his speeches and pleas for debt-free and investing money in '98.  He had another go-round with investing in the Iraqi currency.  Unless I miss my guess, it is the second one that got him in trouble.

He is the singles pastor at FBC. His father-in-law is Thom Kimmel, close friend of JS and financial expert who teaches financial seminars at churches across the country.

Thom Kimmel is an expert con man. He conned a family member of mine out of six figures. My family member though he was legit as he was Jack Schaap endorsed.

Here's some links:

I didn't want to say anything but I see he is STILL going to give his seminars in some churches.

How is that possible? Do they also teach Jack Schaap purity seminars? Why would a pastor allow Thom Kimmel to prey on his congregation? How will they feel when Kimmel is indicted?

Because he is accepted in the "Hyles Movement".

If you stood with Jack Schaap when he made his absurd comments about the Lord's Table, then you are a blind follower.

If you stood with Jack Schaap when he made his absurd comments about "I in you" then you are a blind follower.

I am not a savvy investor by any means. I do tend to watch mutual funds and financial markets but if I ever invested in a fund or a stock you can rest assured that it would tank.
The first rule of investing is to never invest more than you can afford to lose.
I feel sorry for some of these people who lost a lot of money. It is not the first time nor will it be the last that a group of Christians are taken in by a bad advisor who happens to be another Christian that they were taught to trust.

Kimmel made such bizarre statements about returns and what he made on investments that anybody should have had a yellow flag raised. And, all any of them would have had to do was to google his name and enough stuff would have come up to make anyone question what he was doing.

Caveat Emptor!  Not sure this is spelled correctly. My Polish is not too good!!

Where did this happen?  Indiana?  Who are his partners?

IMHO, I think Jesus is more interested in following Him than standing for anything. He did endorse helping those who are in need which may mean standing on their behalf when they have no voice to be heard (think of the unborn, destitute, elderly, etc.).

Why are fundamentalists all about "standing" when they should worry about "following"?

I'm not sure of the reason you ask, but I would generally agree.

All men are sinners, yet Paul said to follow him.

But did Jesus say we should follow anyone other than Himself? Why marginalize the teachings of Jesus with the teachings of Paul?

I think we should follow Christ. As we do some people will follow us as we follow Christ. As they follow us we should connect them with Christ.

You're a theological idiot, and I say that in the nicest possible way. They are both the teachings of the Holy Spirit...

I certainly don't see how following another other than Christ measures up to what Christ taught:

But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ.

I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Oh, and why would the Holy Spirit be introducing new doctrine through Paul when part of the Spirit's job is to bring to remembrance the teachings of Jesus?

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

To put Paul's teachings above Jesus' teachings doesn't meet Jesus' principle IMHO:

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

The teachings of Jesus alone should be sufficient for us.

I believe Tom's mention was about my position concerning the teachings of Christ I do not believe it was meant to be a personal attack against me or meant to malign my character.

Very odd, especially since that one teacher told the Apostles to go unto all nations, teaching them..

Not odd at all. He specified exactly what to teach. He said they were to teach that which He had taught them while He was on the earth. Not "new" doctrine or "new" revelation. IOW, they were to take what He taught and they were to reveal it to the world.

In essence, He remains the ultimate authority and the disciples simply revealed that which He had taught them. Think of those verbalize to the citizens the commands of the king. They aren't the teachers nor the authority. They are simply revealing that which has already been established.
