How do we apply Hebrews 6:4-6 to mean? Loss of salvation or loss of reward of being partakers of the firstfruits of the resurrection in being left behind at the pre great tribulation rapture event?

Let us look at this in context;

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.

4 For
it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

When you read the message from verse 1, and by noting "For.." at the beginning of verse 4 like saying "Because.." you may see that the message is that there is no need for laying again that foundation which was done at the time of conversion for that would be the same as crucifying Jesus Christ again to open shame as if the first time was not enough.

We read on to find a judgment coming after the earth had received the rain of what it bears fruit of.

7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Think of this as the same as 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 KJV where the believer's works on that foundation is judged, and if all that was there is wood, stubble, and hay, ( be the same as bearing thorns and briers ) he will suffer loss for defiling that temple of God by a physical death ( verses 16-17 ) in that day ( verse 13 ), but the spirit is saved still per verse 15.

We go back to Hebrews 6th chapter in reading verses 9 -11 below as the whole point of reading Hebrews 6:1-11 as an exhortation to move on to perfection by running that race by faith in Jesus Christ to help us lay aside every weight & sin daily in walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son; 1 John 1:3-2:5 KJV

9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I believe Christ is presented as the superior testament of salvation. Superior to angels, human priests, angels, etc. Hebrews was written to Jews who were returning to a pre-Messiah religion devoid of Christ. Hebrews 10:25 demonstrates this admonition for Jews not to forsake faith in Christ, and Hebrew 6 is similarly a warning to those unconverted Jews to not turn from the evidence they have seen in the work of Christ to convert souls.

@abcaines

Hebrews 6:1-11 is about those that have been converted in writing to the believers that there is no need to go through all that they went through at their conversion again because there is no need for it for why it is impossible.

Hebrews 10th chapter is about how there is only one time offering for sin for why there is no more offering for sin as the Holy Ghost in believers is a testimony that we are saved.

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

The willful sinning part is having that knowledge that there is no more offering for sin and yet practice as if there still is thus treating the blood of the Covenant on par with the blood of goats and bulls that it bears repeating again, thus incurring the wrath of God to judge His people ( and they are still His people for Paul to have God to still call them that ).

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

So I do not see these scriptures as addressing unconverted jews but converted Jews that may slip back to their old ways in bringing the old practices as if necessary into the New Covenant.

Catholics deny the accusation of sacrificing Jesus Christ again on the cross in their Mass when they believe they are making that one time sacrifice for sins "made present" again to receive again for atonement of sins, which in effect, the same offense as that false accusation. Lutherans believe the same way in treating the bread and the win as more than just symbolic of the body & blood of Jesus Christ, when believing His Presence is in them, thus committing idolatry and the arrogancy that the priests has to be celibate in order to perform the Mass as if that gives them power over Him.

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? 23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

To make communion as a means to receive atonement for recently past sins since last communion, thus by that one time sacrifice for sins made present to receive that atonement "again" is a sin.

Even my former Presbyterian Church sometimes begin communion service with "we come into His Presence today.." but that is not the truth when our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit ( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV ) and Jesus Christ is in us always ( 2 Corinthians 13:5 & Matthew 28:20 KJV ). So why say that which denies Him as in us always? Why insult God that way in holding communion service?

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Making communion "holy communion" is another way of offending God when doing it for more than just in remembrance of Him like He said as well as what Paul said in proclaiming the Lord's death for what He has done for us on the cross.

So I see this exhortation in Hebrews 6th chapter & 10th chapter in "moving unto perfection" as pertaining to believers in Jesus Christ rather than the unconverted Jews.

Its one of the most argued passages in the Bible. It could have 2 meanings, and I don't decry anyone who has either. Either they were never saved, or it is an impossibility.

1. It is IMPOSSIBLE for one who is IN CHRIST to fall away and become "Lost" again.

2. If it WERE (hypothetically) POSSIBLE for one who is IN CHRIST to fall away and become "Lost" again, it would then be IMPOSSIBLE for one to return to a right standing with God because Christ's work of redemption was FINISHED and he ain't doing it again!

3. Go back and read the REST of your Bible and understand that Christ is the lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world (Rev 13:8), we were chosen in him from the foundation of the world (Eph 1:4), and our names were written in the Lamb's Book of Life from the foundation of the world (Rev 17:8).

Our salvation is therefore ALL of Grace, ALL of Christ and NONE of us! We didn't do nothing in order to "Get it" and we certainly can't do nothing to "Lose it!"

Jesus addresses those that have gone astray and gave instruction for how to correct such a one even to the point that if still refusing correction, the church is to excommunicate the unrepentant believer. Matthew 18:10-17 KJV

Paul addresses how former believers that would deny him, will be denied by him, but He still abides per 2 Timothy 2:10-13 KJV Thus from verse 10, we are to seek the good of those that have gone astray by telling them the truth from the scriptures and if not, then exhort them that they are still His to go to Jesus Christ before that throne of grace to ask Him to show the truth in exposing the lies that turned them away from Him so they can depart from iniquity to be received by Him as that vessels unto honor in His House, the vessels of gold & silver WHICH IS the eternal glory that comes with our salvation in Christ Jesus in verses 20-21 of 2 Timothy 2:18-22 KJV

Yes, even carnal believers living in sin should also be warned to lean on Him for help to turn them away from their iniquities Acts 3:26 & 2 Timothy 4:18 KJV les they be left behind Luke 12:40-49 KJV as castaways 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV for when they die, their spirits will be with the Lord in heaven 2 Coirnthians 5:7-11 KJV awaiting for their resurrection after the great tribulation Revelation 6:9-11 KJV as vessels unto dishonor in His House, the vessels of wood & earth, but still in His House as they will testify to the power of God in salvation for all who believe in Jesus Christ, even in His name. John 1:12-13 KJV . Those resurrected after the great tribulation shall serve the King of kings on earth in raising up the next generation Revelation 7:9-17 KJV

Look at what happens when one ignores His warning about how God is not mocked when they sow to the flesh in reaping corruption.

2 Peter 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

So it can happen and God will judge every believer on that day of the rapture event when He comes as the Bridegroom for those that are found abiding in Him and willing to go too.

Dude, you are waaay too loquacious to the point that it is hard to understand what the heck you are saying!

First of all, Church discipline is intended to bring about repentance and restoration to an erring believer. A secondary reason is to maintain purity and keep their nonsense out of the Church! Bottom line: if one acts like they are unsaved, we treat them that way. Church discipline either brings one to repentance or reveals the fact that they are not "Of Us" and they leave on their own (1 Jn 2:19).

Secondly, there is no such a thing as a "Carnal Christian!" A Christian may "Fall into" sin but they will not "LIVE IN" sin to the point that such becomes indelibly linked to their character and they are referred by others as a "drunkard, thief, adulterer, extortioner, liar," and so forth! If you are a CHILD OF GOD, there will be evidence of this that is observable to others both within and outside the Church.

This is one reason I believe this is a bot and AI.....

1. It is IMPOSSIBLE for one who is IN CHRIST to fall away and become "Lost" again.

@Ransom We are bought with a price. Our salvation ain't ours to lose.

2 Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Paul gave an example of a former believer in verse 18. Today, we have former believers because of that false science, evolution theory, in doubting God's words to walk even away from Jesus Christ.

Look at verses 20-21 as this testifies that if they do NOT depart from iniquity, they will become what? Vessels unto dishonor in His House, vessels of wood & earth, for not departing from iniquity.

Salvation is not lost, but the first inheritance of being that vessel unto honor in His House, vessels of gold & silver, will be lost as they will be "damned" as vessels unto dishonor in His House, vessels of wood & earth, to be resurrected after he great tribulation.

Think of applying the prodigal son as giving up his first inheritance for wild living wherein he can never get it back, but he is still son.
2. If it WERE (hypothetically) POSSIBLE for one who is IN CHRIST to fall away and become "Lost" again, it would then be IMPOSSIBLE for one to return to a right standing with God because Christ's work of redemption was FINISHED and he ain't doing it again!
Actually, when read in context per the OP, Paul was saying it is unnecessary for those that fell away to renew themselves again because they are still saved for why that is impossible and so that is why the call to move unto perfection in verse 1 is all that remains for any saved believer by leaning on Jesus Christ to depart from iniquity daily in running that race by faith in Jesus Christ to help us lay aside every weight & sin thus walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.
No one can lose their salvation, but this is why Jesus is warning believers to be ready as well as willing to go or else they risk being left behind while what they treasure on earth, will be lost anyway.
Our salvation is therefore ALL of Grace, ALL of Christ and NONE of us! We didn't do nothing in order to "Get it" and we certainly can't do nothing to "Lose it!"
By the grace of God we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ and so by the grace of God we follow Him by faith in Jesus Christ being our Good Shepherd & Friend in helping us in following Him.

Now that we have been reconciled to God thus saved, we are to live that reconciled relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ. That is what discipleship is all about. that is what running that race is all about, moving unto perfection, abiding in Him as that vessel unto honor in His House walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son daily. 1 John 1:3-2:5 KJV
