History of "Bearded" Christianity

My goatee stays, and is an instant test of insincere "Christianity".

Very interesting.  I'm reminded of what a wise man said: We should preach the whole counsel of God; everything that is in the Scriptures, but where the Scriptures are silent, we should give liberty.

While it seems that the Bible, on the whole is favourable to men wearing beards, there is no clear command to Christians to either have a beard or to abstain from having one, so why all the fuss? Let us live in peace on this matter.

Clearly, Jesus had a beard, and I don't have much respect for lunatic preachers that attempt to prove that He was clean-shaven.

"MY Jesus didn't have long hair!"

I guess he had a Hyles-Anderson tapered haircut.  SMH (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

Love, LOVE, LOVE my hubby's goatee! If it goes, so do I. Haha!

Since there is a vast reservoir of clear Scriptural material available, why do so many busybody preachers insist on riding personal preference hobby horses?

According to the excellent message "30 Years an Independent Baptist and Grieved About It", it is easier to preach on something that "bugs" a preacher rather than study the Word of God to see what it says.  Also easier to be passionate about a hobby horse.

I thought those reasons sounded pretty good to me.

Tom has a refreshing spirit, for those of us in the trenches.

We could then sum it up in one word, slothfulness.

No, Jesus was not a hippie. Not in any way, shape, or form. I'm also fairly certain that He didn't have a tapered haircut. But I could be wrong.

Trenches meaning, those that go to work everyday to support their family while striving to live for Christ?

Sad but true.
