How America has gone from a prohibited federal tax to present-day taxes.
  • 1787 –U.S. Constitution prohibited a "direct" Federal tax
  • 1862 –"Revenue Tax" on incomes went into effect as an emergency to finance the Union during the Civil War
  • 1873 – The Civil War ended, emergency over, income tax repealed
  • 1895 –The Supreme Court made income tax unconstitutional
  • 1913 – 28th President Woodrow Wilson thought tariffs on imports caused wars, so he worked to replace them with an income tax. Income tax was originally only a 1% tax on the top 1% of the richest people in America.
  • 1943 – Paycheck withholding began as an emergency effort to get funds to finance WWII
Before federal taxes began in 1913, tariffs covered the cost of running our nation, financing our country for well over a century.*

I am holding off until October JUST IN CASE the External Revenue Service replaces the IRS.

Either way, it is great to be a Florida man! No personal income tax!!

So you're sayng a strict Constituionalist would believe that we should have NO INCOME TAX.

You mean financing the Federal government. While an odd thought to most people, the Federal Government is NOT "the country". While I'm at it, regardless of everyone saying it, the President does not "run the country". Generally, they ruin it.

A strict Constitutionalist would believe in the spirit behind it, i.e., that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.

I've run into some who just appeal to the term Constitutionalist to mask their covert liberalism, and deny the concept of human rights.

In 2021 I had a bill from the IRS I thought it was paid I looked back through my records it was not. They took $3,000. from me which I cried and was in a sad way until I said I've got to get out of this hole. I told my boss which is letting me work extra to get my saving back to normal for me. I was hoping someone would have mercy on a single widow but no mercy was found. It's ok
