I don't remember the year of the vehicle, but my first car at HAC was a Ford Maverick.

An automotive classic.

Didn't it have a "shelf" instead of a glovebox?

I did not drive a car while I was a student at HAC.

I had a chauffers who would drive us female dorm students in luxurious green coaches.

And those 'luxurious green coaches' were just as well kept as most Hackermobiles!

They were actually far better kept!

I actually had one of the nicest cars that I have ever had when I was a senior at HAC.  I bought a used white Chrysler Cordoba with a maroon leather (rich corinthian leather :) ) interior.  It had air shocks and Crager wheels.

It had an 8-track player in it.  I kept a copy of Dallas Holm and Praise Rise Again hidden.  We listened to it over-and-over again on the way to and from FBCH.

One of my friends (James Roberts) had an old brown Ford Maverick. As a joke, I drove up behind him at a stop sign and just gently nudged his car. The bumper fell off!

Also nicely equipped with fuzzy dice!

I had an '89 Dodge Omni.
It was a throw away Iacoca special, with a 2.2 litre fuel injected 4 cyl., 5 spd manny tranny.

I let someone borrow it, on a Sat.
They let someone else drive it.
Monday morning, a friend whose car wouldn't come out of reverse, was stuck at a bank on 30 n Robin Hood.
I drove there, to push my friend's '88 Taurus back to HAC.
Halfway back, my car overheated.
Checked the oil, it had none...idiot probably drove it in 1 gear all over North Chicago.
Anyway, head was blown.
So....
TRB drove his Taurus backwards ,pushing my omni, a good 3 miles to the campus.
We looked like the circus coming to town, im sure.

Good times (probably not so good at the time).

I'm curious, when my car overheats, I check the coolant.  What made you check the oil?

I didn't remember what that model looked like, so here....

Low oil causes superheating.

Recommend you always have a cassette copy of Fresh Oil in the glove box for times like that.
