HAC honorary doctorate recipients

I can think of three speakers from the pulpit at FBC in the last year and a half who have spoken out against these "Doctoral" degrees. Jim Binney spoke out directly against the practice, Dr. Pete Cowling (legitimate doctoral degree) poked at it when he was asked to speak, and most recently Marvin Smith. Yet still they persist in accepting and using these false titles.

Graduating from a college is not a requirement to have an honorary doctorate bestowed on one.

Remember Bill Rice's horse.

We all have had some good laughs about this, but I hope the non-Hacker crowd realizes that when this happened it was all in fun.  Dr. Hyles did have a good sense of humor.  On the other hand, I think the horse may have been as good a pick as a few of the others.

Seems like HAC always gave out at least one Honorary Degrees every graduation. Kind of cheapens the degree. HAC freely hands them out. HAC always did think highly of themselves!

How many women have received them?  I can think of Marlene Evans and one of John R Rices's Sword of the Lord employees, Fairy Sheppard maybe or Viola Walden?

One of the most rewarding recipients IMO was George Godfrey, and his was stolen from his home, for standing up for right.

There was one guy who got an honorary doc degree, went out the next day and ordered new church business cards.  I believe it was Dr. Auclair.

That is so par for the course!

I was standing with Jack Patterson and Chris Stansell, when Doc.Oc. walked up, at P.C. one year.
Doc was shaking hands with everyone in sight, and JP asked him if he was running for office.
Doc replied: "I don't run for office, I run from office".
From behind me , in a low undertone, I heard C.S. say : "That's right, you run from office...to office.  We can't find a one that you can stay in, around here."
Needless to say, I busted out laughing for no apparent reason.

Is Auclair on any FBC, HB or HAC payroll anymore?  Does he still baptize or assist in the baptistery or has that too been taken away?

In his prime, he was pretty good.  They should've kept him in the grade school and just teaching HAC's Intro to Ed courses cause it all started imploding when he was moved to HBHS as their principal.

He was let go in one of the rounds of firings. Err, layoffs. He works for some sort of newspaper. I don't notice him baptizing anymore, but they don't let go of those sort of volunteers. People move themselves on out of a position when ready. I have always called him Dr. Auclair. I have always been aware of just what sort he really is. I think I will be sure to address him as Mr. Auclair next time we cross paths, just to make a point.

I remember when Greg Weber received his honorary doctorate that he made it quickly known that he'd prefer not to be called "Dr Weber".
