One of my first memories of FBCH was the tragic deaths of Mrs. Eidson and Mr.Sallee.tobytyler said:Norefund said:Boy, we really have different taste in music. I always dreaded hearing BH sing that song. It's almost as bad as hearing Whitney Houston sing "I will always love you." I swear, you could use that recording as a car alarm.

This is more FBC memory than HAC, but my memory is of Mrs Hyles singing Sweet Little Jesus Boy at the last service before Christmas Day. Most times, the crowd would be considerably smaller as all HAC students were home for Christmas and even many of the FBC members were out of town. This was a treat for those in attendance for this service.
We started a church in Gary, in '96, and by Christmas '97, we had about 20 adults and teens who wanted to go with us to the Christmas concert 6 O'clock hour at FBCH.
The feedback from hearing Mrs. Hyles sing, was that she must have been trained by a black woman.
Always was the highlight of Christmas to me.
Here's another one for you. Back in the mid 70's, the Sallee's came to HAC to teach. Every Christmas season,
Mrs. Sallee (Eidson) would sing "Birthday of the King". She did fabulous on this presentation each year. Every time I hear this song, I reminded of hearing it at FBC by Mrs Sallee.
Later, Carol married Brother Eidson, who was my SS teacher one year, and then filled in when Mark Rasmussen bailed on HAC after only a few months as SS teacher, a few years later.
Unfortunately, he moved away after only a few weeks.
I was very fond of them, and looked forward to having him as teacher again.
And Carol's voice was Heavenly.
