The holiday season at HAC was usually a pretty exciting time.  What memories do you have?

"And have yourself a merry, merry Christmas....NOW!!!!!!!!"

The Security Banquet was my FAVORITE! I still put the annual ornaments on my tree.  Great memories!

Wasn't there a dating activity to see the Chicago lights?

This is more FBC memory than HAC, but my memory is of Mrs Hyles singing Sweet Little Jesus Boy at the last  service before Christmas Day.  Most times, the crowd would be considerably smaller as all HAC students were home for Christmas and even many of the FBC members were out of town.  This was a treat for those in attendance for this service.

Christmas 1977. Christmas Day fell on Sunday.  Saturday morning was the funeral service for a student that had been killed in a car accident earlier in the week. If I remember correctly his name was Jeff Snavely and he was from Hummelstown, Pa.  I visited the bus route with Rich Montgomery.  We were suppose to meet to get back in time for the meal at the college.  Rich was late and the food was gone by the time we got back.  I remember running the bus route on Christmas morning.  I was moved by the kids who rode the bus...the majority of the parents were not engaged in Christmas morning. Sunday night after church Mr. Mitchell took us to Denny's.  There were about 30 of us.  This Christmas stands out in my mind because it was so different than any other Christmas.

I remember one Christmas that fell on a Sunday. The crowd was down. Jackie-boy threw a fit about the backsliders that didn't show to those of us that did. ::)

The watch-night "services" were a blast......I've never figured out why suits & ties were the required uniform.

College dates to Chicago Christmas lights!  On the big green bus, of course!

So when they take pictures for promotional purposes everyone looks the part of the nice, shiny image they wish to portray to the world. Remember...it's all about appearances!

Yes.

We started a church in Gary, in '96, and by Christmas '97, we had about 20 adults and teens who wanted to go with us to the Christmas concert 6 O'clock hour at FBCH.
The feedback from hearing Mrs. Hyles sing, was that she must have been trained by a black woman.

Always was the highlight of Christmas to me.

Boy, we really have different taste in music. I always dreaded hearing BH sing that song. It's almost as bad as hearing Whitney Houston sing "I will always love you." I swear, you could use that recording as a car alarm.

The Christmas decorations through out the campus.

Dorm Hall Christmas parties.

My father did not believe in Christmas trees, so my roommate Dorinda Vaughn and her fiancee Don Moore, went and got a very small tree and we decorated it in our room! My first ever tree!!

I guess it will come as no surprise to you then, that I like Whitney's song?

The only thing I hate worse than being worshiped on the FFF is not being worshiped on the FFF.

Here's another one for you.  Back in the mid 70's, the Sallee's came to HAC to teach.  Every Christmas season,
Mrs. Sallee (Eidson) would sing "Birthday of the King".  She did fabulous on this presentation each year.  Every time I hear this song, I'm reminded of hearing it at FBC by Mrs Sallee.
