Goodbye DST

I'd like to see us go to DST and leave it there since we are on that schedule for a majority of the year. However, I'd be happy to leave the time changes behind regardless of what schedule we keep.

It doesn't matter what schedule we keep because living in SE Washington/N Idaho, we're as far north (46th parallel and change) as central Maine and on the Eastern edge of the Pacific time zone, so we'd end up with ridiculously early sunrises (like 3:55 am) during summer or sunsets by 4 pm if we stayed with standard time.

I haven’t done much scientific research into how it affects me, but I just find it irritating to deal with the clock changes twice a year. I also find Florida’s two time zones irritating.

we don;t observe DST in hawaii... ..and i;m glad we don;t.. ... . we are already an hour offset from our true solar time so that all the inhabited islands in the hawaiian chain could be in the same zone... if you look at the pacific ocean time zones map you will see a square cut into a dividing line which puts oahu... (where i live)... in the hawaiian/west alaska zone along with the big island.... when in true solar time we should fall in the same time zone as the aleutian islands west of alaska... .and be an hour off from maui and the big island rather than on the same time...... ..

either way here on oahu we are only an hour and half by solar time from the international date line - which means if you travel a little over a thousand sea miles to the west you will sail right into tommorrow.. ... and people sailing back in this direction from places like guam or okinawa sail into yesterday when they come as far as hawaii.....

the only way we even notice DST has changed on the mainland is when the cable tv channels schedule goes off by an hour.. . plus we just have to remember that if the observed time difference between hawaii and the east coast was 6 hours during DST it will only be 5 hours when DST changes back.....

but since i am always being told that my writing is often confusing i posted a pacific ocean time zones map below..... you can see the square cut out between 2 zones that we occupy... you can also see how south of hawaii the international date line was gerrymandered so kiribati could be in the same zone as fiji and new zealand.... so you can sail south of hawaii and end up in tommorrow too... ..but only for a little while... ... ..it;s weird....
