What brought you to traveling the country?
In a series of unfortunate events due to Michigan's economy, we went bankrupt and foreclosed on our house. In God's providence, two days after we were given the ultimatum by our mortgage company, He brought along a very stable opportunity with one of my websites.
This is something we always wanted to do, so I bought a used travel trailer. Since we have homeschooled our kids from day one and my business is 100% internet-based, this was our opportunity.
We are fortunate enough to give our kids exposure to the National Parks and history. Today we are visiting Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. The Indian cultural centers are very educational.
We are also connected to a church building ministry and travel to their sites to help them in their building programs.
What states have you been in and what are their highlights?
--In the two years we have done this, we have only been to 16 states. In the winter, we need to hug the Gulf Coast so that we do not freeze. I asked the girls, after traveling through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, where they wanted to spend their winter this year. Without hesitation, they all said, "Gulf Shores State Park." So, we stayed there from Dec through Mar. We end up staying an average of a month in each state.
Highlights are way too many to list, so here is our blog:
www.atlantic2pacific.com. I have been negligent with it for a couple of months.
Growing up we had a tent trailer and we traveled all over Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina,Virginia.
--That is how we got our start. We traveled throughout Michigan for a whole summer in 2010 to see if I could truly be mobile. With technology today, I can do everything I could do in my home office.
We have yet to visit North Carolina and Virginia.
