All of the damage in North Carolina from the flooding/Helene has been in the news a lot. One of the controversies stems from the federal governments lack of response and support including the fact that FEMA is supposedly giving a mere $750 to members of the community for cleanup. Obviously that’s a pittance relative to the damage many people faced. The conservative/Republican attack on the situation has leaned into how much and how frequently money has been given to Ukraine.

Oh. I've been hearing about a real snafu there. The main thing I heard is people who weren't contracted through FEMA we're being threatened with arrest for trying to render aid.
